OBITUARY WAYNE ALBAUGH

Graveside services were held Wednesday afternoon, September 8, at Oakhill cemetery for a former Nashuan, Wayne (Bill) Albaugh, 72, who died August 27 at Tri-City hospital in Vista, Ca. Rev Robert Lemmermann officiated at the committal.

He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Albaugh and was born at Iowa Falls January 14, 1908. The family later moved to Nashua, where Wayne attended school and graduated in the class of 1928.

He went to work in Waterloo for the Waterloo Silo company later going to California. He was retired and was living in Coach Court at Vista when he became ill about two weeks before his death.

He was preceded by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Earl, and one sister, June.

Survivors include four brothers; John of Nashua, Don of New Hampton, Lee of Charles City and Lemar of Anamosa; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Fae) Flint of Ionia; Mrs. Dan (Ethel) McGrath of New Hampton, and Mrs. Walter (Edith) Fisher of Vista; also by 13 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wm. P. Allison Answers Final
Summons After Long Illness


Hannah M. Ayres was born at Shiloh, Cumberland county, New Jersey, February 14, 1843. She was the oldest of three children born to L. D. and Clarissa B. Ayres. When but a young child she came west with her parents and settled in Wisconsin where the family resided until 1873.
At the age of 13 she gave her heart to the Lord and has been a loyal follower of her Master ever since.
She was married to William P. Allison on April 22, 1860, and three children were born to the union. Lewis, who died in infancy, Mrs. Carrie Lewis, of Watertown, S. Dak., and Bert E. who resides on the old home place southeast of Nashua.
In her younger days Mrs. Allison was a member of the Baptist church, but she united with the Methodist church many years ago, and while she has not enjoyed the best of health she has been an influence for righteousness in her home and community. Many remember her faithful attendance at the Republic church and the memories are happy ones.
There remain to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother, the aged husband and father William P. Allison, Mrs. C. Lewis and Bert E., and a number of grandchildren.
Death occurred after a long illness on Friday morning, October 19th. Mrs. Allison having attained the ripe age of 74 years, 3 months and 5 days. The funeral services were held at the Republic Methodist church Sunday, October 21, at 1:30 p. m. and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. D. Green. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery at Nashua.
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the sorrowong [sic] relatives and trust that the God of their wife and mother will comfort them in their affliction.

ALGER "SHORTY" AMBLE (1927 - 2005)

Alger "Shorty" Amble, 77, of New Hampton, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at the New Hampton Care Center of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, January 12 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Crane Creek), rural Lawler with Reverend Vincent C. Fricke officiating. Verna Orvis will be the organist and will accompany those in attendance singing "Rock of Ages," "How Great Thou Art" & "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Reilly Ridge with grandchildren Jay Ramsey, Sarah Huscko, Dan Amble, Ryan Amble, Abigail, Lydia, and Eleanor Lofte, Emily Sorenson, Brittany and Lucas Trewin, and Garrett Johnson. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Weigel, Richard Armbrecht, Avey Johnson, Bob Brincks, Gil Lensing, Gary Douglas, Rich Gerber, Don Blocker, Dick Stolfus, and Ralph Koenigsfeld. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 11 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and an hour prior to services a the church.

Alger Norman Amble was born March 22, 1927, on a farm east of Jerico, the son of John & Clara (Knutson) Amble. He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Saude. He began his education at the West Saude School and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1945. After his schooling he farmed with his father.

On October 14, 1950, Alger was united in marriage to Norma Hurd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Reilly Ridge. Following their marriage the couple farmed North of Jerico. Alger began working at Supersweet Feeds in New Hampton in 1959. He retired from farming in the early 80’s, but continued at Supersweet until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement he began working as a night manager with his wife at the Super 8 in New Hampton. The couple moved to New Hampton in 2000. In his younger years, Alger enjoyed playing baseball with the Jacksonville, New Hampton, Cresco, and Lourdes teams. He also played guitar in the Jerico Hotshots Band with Veronica Weigel, Alvie Ellingson and Alfred Anderson and he enjoyed coaching 4-H softball. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Alger is survived by his wife Norma of New Hampton; 6 children Vicki (Robert) Ramsey of Center Point, IA, Jack (Deb) Amble of Clear Lake, IA, Mary Eileen (Adrian) Lofte of Ossian, IA, Pat Sorenson of Decorah, IA, Amanda (Paul) Trewin of New Hampton, Jennifer Johnson and her special friend Mark Jacobson of Rochester, MN; 11 grandchildren Jay Ramsey, Sarah (Andre) Huscko, Dan Amble, Ryan (Jenny) Amble, Abigail, Lydia, and Eleanor Lofte, Emily Sorenson, Brittany and Lucas Trewin, and Garrett Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Alvin, granddaughter Stephanie Thur, grandson Nicholas Sorenson and a sister Eileen Amble.

OBITUARY: Alfred Anderson Funeral Held In Jerico Tuesday.

Died In Waterloo Hospital Sunday Of Carcinoma.

Funeral services for Alfred Anderson, 40 were held at I:00 Tuesday at the Champion funeral home in 0sage, the Rev. G. J. Kupke officiating and at 2:30 p.m. at the Lutheran church in Jerico with the pastor, the Rev. M. H. Otto assisting Rev. Kupko. Mrs, Muller and Mrs. Kozak sang three selections "Old Rugged Cross," "Rock Of Ages" and "Asleep in Jesus".

Burial was in the Jerico cemetery with six nephews as pallbearers, Manard Douglass, Paul Ronnie, Irvin Betts, Leonard Betts, Andrew Douglas and Ardell Anderson. Two nieces Mary Lou Anderson and Ardys Anderson were in charge of the flowers.

Mr. Anderson died Sunday at 2:00 a.m. in the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of carcinoma. He had been ill since January and had been confined to hospital in Mason City and Denver, Calif., before entering the Waterloo hospital.

Alfred A. Anderson, son of Andrew and Mary Johnson Anderson was born Oct 25, 1902 near Jerico. He farmed in that vicinity until 1936 when he moved to Riceville and in 1942 near Rudd where he lived with his sister Anna and Mae Anderson.

He was a member of the Jerico Lutheran Church.

Surviving are 5 sisters, Anna and Mae Anderson of near Rudd, Mrs. Peter Ronnle of New Hampton, Mrs. Louis Douglass of Jerico, Mrs. Louis Betts of Waterloo, and three brothers Ole, Leonard, and John Anderson of Waterloo. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters, Gladys, Adelaide, Mrs. Henry Lindley and two in infancy.

OBITUARY: Anderson rites held Saturday.


Alfred N. Anderson, 85, died from injuries received in an automobile accident Wednesday, October 10, one mile north of Alta Vista. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Jerico Lutheran Church with Rev. Herbert Laroon, officiating. Rev. M. E. Tweit was soloist and Milton Robinson was organist. Interment was in the Jerico Cemetery with Calvin Anderson, Palmer Anderson, John Andterson, Norman Anderson, John Attleson and Olaf Johnson serving as casket bearers. World War I Veterans in attendance served as honorary bearers. Graveside military honors were accorded by of the Paul Johann V.F.W. Post Number 4069 of Alta Vista.
Alfred N. Anderson was born July 29, 1894, in Howard County to Nels and Gertrude (Johnson) Anderson. He was baptized September 9. 1894, and confirmed June 13. 1909, at the Jerico Lutheran Church of which he has been a life long member. He attended the public schools of Howard and Chickasaw counties and also the Oliver Business College at New Hampton and the Sweeny Automotive School at Kansas City.
He entered military service with the Army in 1918, served nine months with the 88th Division in France and was honorably discharged in 1919. In 1920, he started farming on the farm near Jerico where he spent the remainder of his life.
November 9, 1922, he was married to Gena Hagen at St.Paul, Minn. by Rev. Yluisaker. To this union of nearly 58 years were born four children; Geraldine (Mrs. Paul Munson) of Milwaukee. Ronald of Lawler, Alton Gene and Lana Gundakcr of Marion, all of whom survived except Alton Gene who died April 12, 1942, at age three years and eight months. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Throughout his adult life he served his church in numerous capacities. He was director of the Farmers Lumber Co., of Alta Vista for over 20 years, and served in various offices with the Jerico Creamery and his local school district. He was a charter and life member of the Paul Johann V.F.W. Post, a member of the Fae Stine American Legion Post at New Hampton. An accomplished musician, entertained many residents with his musical talents.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his six brothers and three sisters; Andrew, Ole, John, Thomas, George, Nels, who died at age 4; Mary (Mrs. Ed Attleson), Martha (Mrs. Peter Johnson) and Barbara who dies at age 17.

CLARA (ROBINSON) ANDERSON (1882 - 1929)

OBITUARY: JERICO WOMAN BURIED TUESDAY

Mrs. Hank Anderson died Sunday at Mercy Hospital at Cresco. Jerico. Mrs. Hank Anderson died Sunday, July 21 at the Mercy Hospital Cresco. She had been confined there about two weeks with an attack of diabetes. She had seemed to improve last week but had a relapse and the disease proved fatal.

She was the daughter of Andrew and Sigrid Robinson and was born February 10, 1882 in Jacksonville Township. She was educated in the public Schools of Jerico. April 24, 1902 she was married to Mr. Hank Anderson at the church in Jerico. Her father, five brothers, five sisters, five children and four grandchildren survive her. The children are, Oscar, Marie, Alert, Henry and Alice.

She lived practically all her life in Chickasaw County where she has made many friends, who join with her relatives in mourning the loss of this kind and good woman.

The funeral was held Tuesday, July 23 at the Synod Lutheran Church at Jerico and burial was there. Due to the absence, because of sickness of her regular pastor, Reverend H. N. Tjernagel, the services were held by Reverend Dahle.

Those present from away were her son, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson, and Mrs. Orval Landswerk of Hayward, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braham of Rudd, Iowa, Mrs. Andrew O. Bjerke and J. H. Bjerke of Brooklyn, N. Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bjerke of Austin, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Amble, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Amble and Uatin Amble of Adams, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson of Cresco and Mrs. Hanson of Austin, Minn. The Gazette extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends.

OBITUARY: MRS. ANDERSON DIED AT HOME IN NEW HAMPTON
Death Occurred On Wednesday. Funeral Held Friday, October 24 At Jerico Lutheran Church.

CRANE CREEK - Mrs. Ella Anderson died Wednesday morning at her home in New Hampton following a heart attack.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Jacksonville twp., a daughter of the late Severt and Anna Knutson, she spent her entire life in this community and at the time of her death she was 65 years, 9 months, and 2 days of age.

She was married to Ole Anderson in November, 1905, and to this union were four children, two of whom died in infancy. Her husband passed away in 1934, and a son, Ole, also preceded her in death in 1939, Surviving are one daughter, Alice, two grand children, Virgil and Helen Anderson, of New Hampton, and also four sisters and one brother, (Bertha) Mrs. Ole Fauberg, Forestburg, So. Dak.; (Martha) Mrs. Tom Thompson, New Hampton; (Mary) Mrs. Halvor Ronnie, Lawler; (Anna) Mrs. George Clynch, Cresco, and Robert Knutson of Lawler.

Funeral services were held at the Jerico Lutheran church on Friday, Oct 24 at 2 o'clock p.m., the Rev. N. S. Tjernagel officiating, Rev. Osleby led the prayer at the house. Pall bearers were as follows; Oscar Anderson, Alfred Johnson, Alvie Robinson, J. C. Johnson, O. Anderson and Henry Ronnie. Mrs. H. A. Knutson and Annette Robinson were in charge of the flowers,

Relatives and friends who attended the funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schwimle and daughter, Clara Marie, of Forestburg, So. Dak.; Mrs. Bertha Fauberg and son, Alvin, and Mrs, Ole Olson of Forestburg, So. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Elbert, of Davis corners; Mr. and Mrs. Severt Knutson of Lourdes; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Clynch of Cresco; Mr. and Mrs. James Husek, Mr, and Mrs. Lou!s Praska and daughter, Gloria, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clynch and George Clynch, all of near Cresco.

George N. Anderson Services.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, July 1) for George N. Anderson, 87, of  New Hampton, who died Friday. June 25. The rites will be from the Jerico Lutheran Church with the Rev. G. A. R. Gullixson officiating. Interment will be at the Jerico Lutheran Cemetery with Jack Anderson, Charles Grosser, Keith Anderson, Dick Grosser, Paul Tweet and Tim Anderson as casket bearers. Larkin-Martin Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anderson was born January 28. 1889 in Howard County, the son of Nels and Gertrude (Johnson) Anderson.

He is survived by three sons, Palmer of Decorah, Calvin of rural Lawler and David of New Hampton: a sister, Mrs. Walter (Edith) Grosser of Decorah: a brother, Alfred Anderson of rural New Hampton: 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Cora Vaala.

GJERTRUDE (TEIGEN) ANDERSON (1853 - 1931)

OBITUARY: Mrs. N. Anderson Summoned To Rest - Passed Away At Her Home.
Her Funeral Was Held Lat Thursday.

Crane Creek Cor. - It was with much sorrow that relatives and other friends learned of the death of Mrs. Nels Anderson, which occurred at her home in Jacksonville township on Tuesday morning, September I5th, at 8: 30 o'clock. She had been ill for nine months with anemia.

The deceased, Miss. Gjertrud Teigen, was born in Jostedahlen, Norway, on February 18, 1853, a daughter of the late Ole and Martha Teigen. She came to Chickasaw county with her parents where she was a young girl and received a careful bringing up in home, public school and the parochial school.

On February 13, 1872 she was married in this county to Mr. Nels Anderson who survives. All of their married life was happily spent in their home community.

This wonderful little mother not only loved and cared for her own large family, one daughter and two sons of whom preceded her in death, but she leaves to mourn and call her blessed, her daughters Mrs. Mary Attleson of Howard County, Mrs. Martha Johnson at Willow City, North Dakota, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Herman Roenfeldt, formerly Cora Johnson, a daughter of her brother, also six sons, Andrew, at home, George, John, Ole, Alfred, of Chickasaw County and Tom of St. Paul. Beside these she leaves 34 grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, Jack Johnson and Ole Johnson of Howard County.

Mrs. Nels Anderson was a devoted christian, charitable woman and a member of the Jerico Synod Lutheran church, from which her funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. H. M. Tjernagel. Burial was in the cemetery beside the church. Her six sons acted as pall bearers. Those from away to attend her funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Rosenfelt, niece, and Tom Anderson, a son. The passing of Mrs. Anderson marks the closing of a good life where all worldly duties have been done and well done. She has reared monument to her credit in the great service she has given and the family she has reared.

To her life companion and all members of her family we extend sympathy in their sorrow.

HANS (HANK) ANDERSON (1877 - 1939)

OBITUARY: Hans Anderson, Old Resident Of Jerico, Dies Thurs.

CRANE CREEK - Hans Anderson was born in Jacksonville township, Chickasaw County, February 28, 1877. He died suddenly from heart disease at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Orval Lundswerk, with whom he made his home, Thursday, August 10, 1939, at noon.

Hans Anderson's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Ole Anderson. His parents were among the first settlers in this community. Hank is the name he was know by and he was a familiar figure around Jerico where he made his home all his life.

Hans Anderson was baptized, confirmed and remained a member of the Jerico Lutheran church until his death. His occupation was farming.

April 24, 1901, he was married to Clara Robinson. She preceded him in death July 21, 1929. A daughter Alice, died at the age of three years. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were the parents of seven children. The six surviving children are: Marie, Mrs. Theo. Haugen, Elma; Oscar, New Hampton; Sena, Mrs. Orval Landswerk, New Hampton; Alice, Alert, and Henry, also of New Hampton; There are eleven grandchildren. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Anna Johnson of Alma; Mrs. L. A. Robinson, New Hampton; and one brother, Jim Anderson, New Hampton.

Funeral services were held at the Landswerk home at 1:15 Saturday afternoon, and at the Jerico Lutheran church, at 2 o'clock, by Rev. H. M. Tjernagel. His casket was borne by six of his nephews, namely; John C. Johnson, Ole J. Anderson, Alfred Knutson, Henry Robinson, and Harold Munson. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. AIfred Knutson and Annetta Robinson. He was burled in the cemetery next to the church. The floral offerings were beautiful and there were many donations to the work of the Lutheran Church.

The sudden death of Mr. Anderson leaves another vacant chair. His pleasant disposition and friendliness will be missed among us all, but mostly by his children who now have lost both parents.

JENS ANDERSON (1866 - 1947)

JENS ANDERSON IS DEAD AGE 81; BORN AT JERICO
Funeral Friday P. M. In His Life Community.


Jens Anderson, 81, died at 10:55 Wednesday morning, August 6 at St. Joseph's hospital from a heart condition and complications. He had been failing steadily since shortly after the death of his wife ElIen on January 26, 1946, who never recovered from the results of a broken hip, 17 years earlier and to whom he administered and showed every kindness and consideration during these years.

Jens Anderson, son of Ole and Anna Anderson was born 1 mile northwest of Jerlco. He lived his entire life in this same community and was baptized, confirmed, and married and buried from the Jerico Lutheran Church. Farming in this community was his life work.

In December, 1890 he was married to Miss Ellen Sampson of New Oregon, in Howard County. They moved onto a farm near Jerico before buying a farm of their own two years later where he lived continuously for 54 years. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were the parents of ten children. A daughter Sarah, died In 1936. Those who survive are: (Sena) Mrs. Merle Mosby, Harrisburg, Pa.; (Agnes) Mrs. Lee Milier, Waterloo; (Clara) Mrs. Don Leyerly, Davenport; (Henrietta) Mrs. Ole Thompson, Hot Springs, South Dakota; (Evelyn) Mrs. Harry Macha; and Ole, New Hampton; Jimmy, Des Moines, and Anna and Elmer who have always lived at home, also twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Anna, Mrs. Charles Johnson of Elma.

The deceased will be greatly missed, especially in his home which he cherished and where he was satisfied and contented, when near his family. His body was taken from the Larkin Chapel to his home where a prayer was said before the funeral services at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Jerico Lutheran Church. Rev. Schroeder of Elma had charge of the service. Burial was in the adjoining church lot. His pallbearers were; Oscar Anderson, K. C. Johnson, Percival Johnson, Alvie Robinson, Cleotus Anderson and Jeff A. Knutson. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Jos. Vaala and Mrs. Cletus Anderson.

His children were all in attendance at the rites except Mrs. Ole Thompson who sent a message expressing her regret at being unable to attend, Mrs. Mosby of Harrisburg, came by plane as far as Chicago. She returned to her home Tuesday.

OLE O. ANDERSON (1899 - 1939)

OBITUARY: Ole O. Anderson Died Suddenly on Sunday Afternoon -
Rev. H. M. Tjernagel in Charge Of Funeral Services Wednesday Afternoon At Jerico.

CRANE CREEK - Ole O. Anderson, age 39 years, 6 months and 28 days, Jacksonville township farmer died suddenly Sunday afternoon about 5:00 o'clock at Fredericksburg. During the afternoon he had played baseball with a group of neighbors. Later he complained of pains in his chest and decided to visit a doctor. He drove to Fredericksburg to see Dr. S. D. Zoller and while waiting for the physician to arrive he died. Heart disease was the cause of his death.

Ole O. Anderson was born December 18, 1899 In Chickasaw county, a son of Ole and Ellen Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and has been a member of the Jerlco Lutheran church all his life.

On December 24, 1923 he was united in marriage to Cella Veverka. To this union three children were born; a son Norbert, preceded his father in death.

He Is survived by his wife, two children, Virgil and Helen, his mother Mrs. Ellen Anderson, and one sister, Mrs. Ed Novak of Spillvllle. His father, a sister, and a brother have also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 :00 o'clock at the home and 3:00 o'clock at the Jerico Lutheran church with Rev. H. M. Tjernagel in charge. Pallbearers were Oscar Anderson, Karl Johnson, Alfred Knutson, Omar Robinson, Henry Ronnie and Edwin Thompson. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy Is extended to those who mourn his death.

OBITUARY:Rites Held For "Bob" Attleson

Funeral services for Alfred (Bob) Attleson, 75, Elma, were held Monday, Nov. 19, from the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crane Creek with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial was in the Church cemetery.

Alfred (Bob) Attleson died Friday, Nov. 16, at Colonial Manor where he had been a resident for some time.

He was born January 31, 1909, in Chickasaw County, the son of Edward and Mary (Anderson) Attleson. He attended the Howard County Schools and served in the Armed Forces.

Survivors include one son John of Houston, TX, three daughters, Mrs. Rocky (Rosa) Espanosa of Humble, TX, Cora and Mary Attleson, both of Houston, TX, one sister, Mrs. Cora Johnson, Colonial Manor, Alma; one brother John Attleson of Hollis Center, ME, and one grandchild. Preceding him in death are his parents, three sisters, Muriel Attleson, Gertrude Johnson and Marjorie Johnson, two brothers, Nordeen and Henry Attleson.

Graveside military services were by the Lawler American Legion.

ANDREW J. ATTLESON (1884 - 1958)

Andrew J. Attleson, 74, Star Route, Jamestown, who had been in failing health for the past few years, died Tuesday night at Jamestown Hospital where he had been a patient for a week. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p. m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. J. A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born May 9, 1884, in Chickasaw County, Iowa, where he received his education. Following his marriage to Ida Fossen in August 1908 at Crane Creek Lutheran Church near New Hampton, IA, the couple made their home on a farm there, coming to North Dakota in 1917 he farmed in Linton Township, southwest of Jamestown until 1926 when they moved to the present farmsite in Rose Township near Spiritwood Lake, where he had since made his home. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Besides his widow, he is survived by seven sons and daughters; Harry, Cleveland: Kenneth, Spiritwood; Mrs. Harold Oppegaard (Alice), Gilby; Olai, John, Alvin and Mrs. Ray Milek (Caroline), Jamestown, 16 grandchildren and a sister. Mrs. Jeff Knutson, New Hampton, la. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Eddy Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Andrew J. Attleson, Rose Township farmer, were held Saturday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. J. A. Nestingen, pastor, in charge. Miss Martha Buck was organist and accompanist for John Seale who sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Abide With Me."' Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Eddy's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Hilmer Allickson, Alvin Allickson, Fay Heasley, Ben Maluski, Ben Stout and W. W. McDougall. Out of town relatives at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Oppegard, Virginia and Robert Gilby; Severt Fossen, Kenneth Fossen and Olaf Flatjord, Lawler, Iowa; Mrs. Jeff Knutson, Duane Knutson, Bob Attleson and Nordeen Attleson, New Hampton, Iowa; Mrs. Vern Morton. Jackson. Minn.; Miss Adeline Knutson, Rapid City, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hubbard, Fedora. S. D., and many friends from surrounding communities.

OBITUARY: MRS. C. ATTLESON DIED THURSDAY PASSED AWAY IN MILLER HOSPITAL in ST. PAUL FOLLOWING TEN WEEKS ILLNESS AND OPPERATION FOR TUMOR.

The death of Mrs. Carrie Attleson occurred in the Miller Hospital in St. Paul Thursday evening, June 30, 1927 following an operation for tumor and, after ten weeks of serious illness.

Her body was brought to New Hampton and then to her home northeast of this city and her funeral was held from the Crane Creek Lutheran church on Sunday, July 3rd. Burial was made in the parish cemetery beside the church. The services, were conducted by Rev. J. A. Erickson; pastor. The church and church yard were filled with relatives and neighbors who came to pay a last respect to a most noble woman and friend.

The deceased, Miss Carrie Tompson, was born February 2, 1854 at Jostedal, Norway. She came to Chickasaw County in 1870. She was married to Mr. John Attleson in 1874, and he preceded her to the grave in October of 1912. To this union thirteen children were born, four of whom have passed to the great beyond, and nine of whom survived their parents.

Their living children are Ed Attleson of Howard County, Sarah (Mrs. Hans Ronnie) of White Bear, Minnesota, John Attleson on the home place, Anna (Mrs. Knutson) of Artisan, South Dakota, Andrew Attleson of Jamestown, North Dakota, Hattie (Mrs, Jeff Knutson) of near Jerico; Clara (Mrs. Olaf Peterson) Artisian, South Dakota, Jennie at home and Gertrude (Mrs. Alert Landsverk) of near Saude. Anna and Clara were unable to attend their mother's funeral but all other living children were present.

Those from a distance here to attend her funeral besides her children and several grandchildren were; Mr. and Mrs. Hoffland of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Attle Attleson of Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin and the following from Adams, Minnesota: Mr. and Mrs. Anfin Amble, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Amble, Mrs. Lars Ellingson and son Louis, Erik Vinees, Mr. Fardahl and daughter Caroline and sons Nels, Alfred and Melvin, Mrs. Lars Slindee and Mrs. Husebo.

Mrs. Attleson's death' leaves many in sorrow and mourning because she was such a splendid wife and mother and such a good neighbor and friend. She had a cheerful disposition at all times, a kindly heart for everyone, a diligent church worker and Christian woman and never complaining. The deceased labored long and hard. She reared a large family, all of whom call her blessed. Her life is one worth while and the world is better for such as she having lived.

We extend sympathy to her children and other relatives and friends in their great sorrow.

OBITUARY: Edward Attleson Died Monday at Marion
Funeral Services at St. Olaf's Church

Edward E. Attleson, 78, former sheriff of Chickasaw county and former New Hampton business man died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, June 7, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Vikdal of Marion, where he had resided for eight years.

The body was brought to Perrys Chapel and funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Olaf's Lutheran church. Gertrude Attleson will sing "Nearer the Cross" and John E. Vikdal will sing "The Lord's Prayer."

Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with three nephews, Floyd Munson and Lester Munson and three cousins, Stanley Attleson, Erick Attleson, and Ben Attleson as pall bearers.

Edward Attleson, son of Ed and Julia Thompson Attleson was born April 25, 1876 in Jacksonville township, Chickasaw county. He attended the rural schools and on Oct. 3, 1899 he was married to Ettie Amanda Clapper, in New Hampton.

He served as sheriff of Chickasaw county for two years, was in the implement business in New Hampton, farmed for a time and was also employed as a male nurse. He resided in Chickasaw county and Anoka, Minn. during his lifetime and the past eight years lived at Marion. Six children were born to this union. Mr. Attleson was a member of the Crane Creek Lutheran church and the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Etta Vikdal of Marion, Mrs. Ethel Montgomery of Victor, Mrs. Effie Kuhtz of Brooklyn and Mrs. Eva Goodwin of Renton, Wash.; one son Edson Elmer Attleson of Cortland, New York; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Lingle of Nashua, Montana; Mrs. Martha Munson of Lawler, Mrs. Julia Walker of Verndale, Minn., and Mrs. Anna Walker of Wadena, Minn. and three brothers, Hans, John, and Tom Attleson all of Verndale, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in December, 1935; one daughter, Edna Pearl Attleson, two sisters and two brothers.

Ed Attleson, 86, Ypsilanti Pioneer, Dies Here Monday

Ed Attleson 86, of Ypsilanti, pioneer of Stutsman County, died Monday at Trinity Hospital after having been in failing health for the past two years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the James River Valley Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti with Rev. G. G. Johanneson officiating. Burial will be in the Ypsilanti cemetery. The body will be at the Eddy Funeral Home until taken to the church Wednesday.

Mr. Attleson was born March 1, 1879, at Lawler, Iowa, the, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Attleson. He attended school in Iowa before coming to North Dakota in 1903 when he settled at Ypsilanti. He worked in the Ypsilanti and Jamestown areas at that time. His marriage to Anna Veum took place Nov. 6, 1917, at Moorhead, Minn., and they lived on a farm on the east edge of Jamestown. Mr. Attleson operated a sanitation service in this area for 11 years. In 1938 they moved to a farm southeast of Jamestown, in Homer Township, where they resided until1956. They moved to Ypsilanti that year where the home has been since. Mr. Attleson was a member of the James River Valley Lutheran Church of Ypsilanti.

He is survived by his wife; one sister, Mrs. Anna Johnson, Waterloo, Iowa, and one brother, John Attleson, New Hampton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. A.J. Attleson, 83, Longtime Area Resident, Dies Sunday

Mrs. Ida Attleson, 83, wife of the late Andrew J. Attleson, died· Sunday night at Jamestown Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Chester L Johnson, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The body is in the Eddy Funeral Home until taken to the church Wednesday at noon.

Mrs. Attleson, the former Ida Fossen, was born Feb. 21, 1884, in Chickasaw County near Hampton, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Fossen. She received her education in the local schools there and was married to Andrew J. Attleson on Aug. 19, 1908, in the Crane Creek Lutheran Church near Hampton. After their marriage they farmed in Chickasaw County until coming to North Dakota in 1917 when they settled on a farm southwest of Jamestown in Lenton Township. In 1926 they moved to a farm in Rose Township near Spiritwood Lake. Since her husband's death on July 1, 1958, Mrs. Attleson continued to live with her son John on the farm until she moved to Hi-Acres Manor on Nov. 31, 1966, ·where she had resided since. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include five sons, John, Olai and Alvin Attleson, all of Jamestown, Harry Attleson, Valley City, and Kenneth Attleson, Spiritwood; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Oppegard (Alice), Gilby; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Elmer and Severt Fossen, Lawler, Iowa.

Her husband, one daughter Clarine, two sisters, four brothers and her parents preceded her in death.

Oliai E. Attleson, 76, 821-3rd Ave. SE., died Monday in Jamestown Hospital. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church With Rev. Norman Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Eddy Funeral"al Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Attleson was born April 26, 1911, at New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Ida (Fossen) Attleson. He came to North Dakota with his parents when he was six years old. They settled in the Eldridge area for a short time and then moved to Spiritwood. He received his education in rural Stutsman County schools.

He farmed and operated a roller skating rink at Valley City and Jamestown. He entered the Army at Ft. Snelling, Minn., May 22, 1942, and served in the European middle eastern theatre. He was discharged at Camp McCoy, Wis., on Sept. 25, 1945. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad at Jamestown for a short time. He married Beverly B. McLane March 5,1949, at Aberdeen, S.D. He was a custodian for the Jamestown Armory, Jamestown Memorial building and later for the Jamestown Public Schools. He retired in 1975. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, John, Greeley, Colo., Jim, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Kenneth,all of Jamestown; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne Hinrichs (Evelyn), Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; four brothers, John, Harry and Kenneth, all of Spiritwood, and Alvin, LaCrosse, Wis.; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Oppegard, Gilby, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The funeral for Stanley Merle Attleson will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gary Benson and Rev. Carol A. Solovitz officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Attleson, 80, of Rochester, a retired Assistant Vice President of First Security Bank and Trust Company of Charles City, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital of complications from multiple myeloma cancer.

Born Oct. 15, 1924, in Mt. Sterling, Wis. to Attley and Millie (Eiberg) Attleson, Mr. Attleson graduated from High School in New Hampton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served as Yeoman Second Class. Following military service, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. He began his banking career in Ionia and later moved to Charles City, where he was employed at First Security Bank. He married Irene Boomgarden in Forest City on Jan. 5, 1958. The couple made their home in Charles City, and moved to Rochester upon retirement.

Mr. Attleson was active in church choir, deacons and bible study in communities he lived in. He enjoyed biking, hiking, swimming and camping with his family. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 17 years in Rochester and gave over 5 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He also served faithfully in several offices of The Gideons International for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Tami (Dave) Thompson of Edina, Minn., a son, Peter (Jill) Attleson of Brooklyn Park, Minn., four grandchildren, three sisters, Mavis (Fritz) Lang of New Hampton, Hazel (Don) Hereid of New Hampton and Thelma (Roger) Johnson of New Hampton. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 - 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Horne - Rochester Chapel - and at the church an hour before the service.
