6/21/1917 KEPPLE FAMILY REUNION-Sunday the Kepple families had a reunion on the banks of the Cedar south of Chickasaw. Among those present were C. F. Kepple and wife and M. A. Kepple and family of Nashua; Guy Kepple and family, of Bradford township; Ward Kepple and wife and baby, of Floyd; Mrs. Walter Hanson and family, of Albert Lea, Minn.; and P. L. Kepple and G. D. Kepple and families of Ionia. Misses Ina Crapser, Marguerite Steward were also among the number from Nashua. 8/23/1917 CAGLEY FAMILY REUNION-Annual Picnic of the Clan Held Last Thursday: The annual reunion of the Cagley family was celebrated last Thursday at the beautiful and commodious farm home of Mrs. Mina Ernwine. Everything had been done for the comfort and convenience and the day was ideal. The early part of the day was spent in social chat and horseshoe pitching, after which a fine program was rendered as follows: An original song entitled, "Are You a Cagley?" composed by Gladys Noble and sung by Florence and Esther Hunt, to the tune of "Are You From Dixie?" Original poem entitled "The Cagley Reunion" composed and read by Gladys Noble. A letter from Aunt Delilah Hine, the only surviving member of the original Cagley family. Song by Clara Cagley, who responded with an encore. A paper by Goldie Cagley, which contained much news and fun. Instrumental selection by Mrs. Roy Hunt. Vocal solo by Helen Cagley, who responded to an encore. The ball game between the married Cagleys and the single Cagleys was won by the married men by a score of 1 to 4. Your scribe left the reunion thankful for so many good relatives. Reported by David Hine. 8/30/1917 The Thomas family reunion was held last week at the Will Robinson home south of Nashua. About seventy were present and the picnic dinner showed what good cooks there are in the family. After dinner there was a short program and a swim in the "old swimmin' hole", a large bag swing causing much fun for some. Ice cream was served just before the people returned home. Freeman and family, Mr. and Mrs. F. Knight and family, Ansel Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Teeple and family, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thomas and family. 9/13/1917 Peterson Family Reunion-Mr. and Mrs. Matt Peterson and their children held a family reunion and birthday celebration in honor of Mrs. Peterson's birthday on the banks of the Cedar near Waverly on September 4th, and a very pleasant time was had. Of course the principal event of the day was a big picnic dinner. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Matt Peterson, M. Bergstrom and family, I. Bergstrom and family, H. Bergstrom and family, P. Bergstrom and family, F. Rickes and family, A. Rickes and family, and Miss Ruth Bergestrom, of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Mary Epenson, Waterloo; C. Frundsen and family of Plainfield; Carl Peterson and family, Amos Peterson and family, Joseph Peterson and family, Bartlett Peterson and family, Iver Johnson and wife and baby, A. Juhl and wife, and V. V. Prudhon and wife and baby, of Nashua. 10/17/1917 Enjoy Family Reunion-The home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Morris was the scene of a happy family gathering last Sunday when a number of relatives gathered to spend the day with them. Those present were: Mrs. Mary Morris and daughters Laura and Martha, of Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Claud Lorry and children, Miss Artie and Henry Morris of Marshalltown; and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Morris of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Lorry and Miss Artie and Henry Morris remained here until Monday. 11/22/1917 Family Enjoys Reunion-The children of Henry Malloy were all home last week, for the first time in a number of years and the father and children enjoyed the reunion in the fullest. Besides the children who live in the vicinity, there were here George Malloy of Wolf Point, Mont., and Lou Malloy and wife and son, of Hedrick, Iowa. They took advantage of the occasion to have a group picture of the family taken. |
