A Happy Family Reunion--Last Sunday, May 17, on the old Casper Zwanziger homestead in Douglas township, Bremer county, now owned by Edward C. Zwanziger, there gathered the brothers and sisters who have not been together for many years, these with their children making a total of 33.  This farm was the birthplace of these brothers and sisters with the exception of two, they also having lived there since early childhood, when their parents came from Wisconsin in an early, when their parents came from Wisconsin in an early day and who lived on the farm until death called them home some few years ago.  By nature the ties of home and kindred are dear, but these children lived for so many years in one place all the old familiar scenes of childhood were revived once more and though the family circle of nine is scattered and gone from the dear old place, yet there lingers pleasant memories of childhood when they gathered round father's chair to hear him tell of soldier life upon the battlefield and western plain, and to share in another's greetings kind and good.  Yes, gone but not forgotten are those happy childhood days when as children they came and went and played in childish glee with never a thought of the future to mar their happiness and joy.  "All are married, some are dead, and those childhood days are fled, but never from their mind will go, those happy times of long ago"  Those present were:  Mr. and Mrs. Mike Eckenrode (Eckenrod ?) and two children of Ionia, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allison and three children of Nashua, Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin and son Linford of Tripoli, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Good and Mr. and Mrs. Will Breckenridge and baby of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hill and son of New Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Will Brown, Jr. and baby, and Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Zwanziger of Six Mile Grove, near the old homestead.

LYNES FAMILY REUNION; Amnual Event Observed Last Saturday at the F. F. Lynes Home West of Plainfield--The ninth annual reunion of the Lynes family was held at the home of F. F. Lynes about four miles west of Plainfield on Saturday, June 20, 1914.  A large canvas was erected on the front lawn, under which tables were set for all present.  Althought the morning was chilly it did not chill the hearts of those who enjoy these gatherings, as there were 67 present.  Although we missed and regret that so many of our number were detained by sickness or other reasons, we enjoyed the day.  Before we sat down to the tables that just groaned with good things to eat, Mr. Muller, of Waverly photographed the group.  After dinner we enjoyed a fine program under the management of Gladys Farnsworth, Maurine Lynes, Marguerite Lynes and Pauline Roach, after which the secretary read letters from the absent ones.  Toasts were given by Mr. and Mrs. Reeves, of Waverly, W. W. Blasier of Jesup and Mrs. Austin, of Waverly, after which the present officers were reelected.  A vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Lynes for their hospitality was unaminous, and the song, "God be with us till we meet again", was sung in closing.  Ice cream and cake were served later in the day.  Those present not living in or near town were:  Mrs. E. M. Reeves, Miss Laura Reeves, Mrs. Minnie Reeves Austin, of Waverly; Mrs. G. D. Kepple and two children of Ionia; Mrs. W. Bromly of Carrville; Mrs. R. L. Farnsworth and son Linden of New Hartford; Miss Lillian Rhodes and Glen Lynes of Sioux City; Mrs. A. J. Blasier and son Roy, of Nashua; Mrs. H. M. Peterson of Nashua; Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw, Mary Katherine Henry, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Collins, Clifford Collins and fae collins of Waterloo; Leo Lynes of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Blasier and little son Robert of Jesup; Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Thompson and son Darrel, of Hartford, S. Dak.  As the sun got low in the west, we took our departure feeling as though it was good to be there, and that in the past year so few have crossed the river.  May we meet again next year as happy.

Cagley Family Reunion-Ninety-four members of the Cagley family were in attendance at the annual Cagley family reunion near Plainfield last week Thursday, several different states being represented in the gathering.  Of course the main feature of the day was a big dinner and it was the usual success.  Among the amusements was a baseball game between a picked nine from the Cagleys' and the Plainfield nine and the result was somewhat of a surprise to the Plainfield boys who thought it would just be a good practice game and at the end of the game the score stood 6 to 10 in favor of the Cagleys.  There was a nail driving contest for the ladies and Miss Reba Cagley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Cagley, won the contest.  John Frank says there is no question who will do the carpentering around his place.  Another amusement that will likely be made an annual event was a shooting contest the prize being a fine rifle and target which was won by John H. Cagley, of Raymond, S. Dak.  Some of the Iowa Cagleys expect to practice up before the next reunion and be prepared to bring the prize back to Iowa.  There were also foot races and other amusements which with the visiting filled the day to the fullest with pleasure.  The time of the next reunion was left for the executive committee, Messrs. Geo. M. Cagley, Rob Cagley and D. W. Hine, to fix.

Belden Family Reunion--The picnic at the fair grounds last Thursday was not the only big event taking place on the grounds for there was a family reunion of the Belden family, who had appropriated a corner of the grounds all for themselves during the dinner period.  There were 64 relatives present at this reunion, which was the first in twenty years.  Those from out of town present were Mrs. A. E. Loomer and little son, of Elkhorn, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Watts of Bellingham, and Mrs. Bray, of Chicago, sister of Mrs. G. W. Ogbin.

from the Greene Recorder: THOMAS FAMILY REUNION; Held At Greene,  Seventy-three Relatives are Present.  Relatives From Nashua Attend--The sixth annual reunion of the Thomas family was held in the grove of the Ansel Thomas home on last Saturday, August 22, where 73 members of the family tree gathered to enjoy the occasion. A large banner was stretched across the street announcing the important occasion, and it is sure an event that both the old and young look forward to with expectation.  The big dinner is always served, photographs taken, some sports for the younger, and withal a getting together of the families, talking over family affairs and listening to stories of long ago in connection therewith.  The heads of the families living here are Sam, Garn, Ansel Thomas and Mrs. Wes. Knight, then comes the married sons and daughters and their families, L. P. Stevens, Theodore Thomas, Arthur Thomas, Frank Freeman, Henry Teeple, James Gibson and Frank Knight.  The aged couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Thomas of St. Paul came down to attend the reunion.  The relatives from Nashua were present, being E. E. Tracy and family, W. G. Robinson and family, E. Hammond and family, Gilbert Tracy and family, P. E. Tracy and wife and Lyle Thomas.  Mrs. Will Wilder and children of Grinnell and Mrs. Albert Richard and baby of Cedar Rapids were among the relatives present.

from the Waverly Independent: Nine brothers, all of one family were in town on Monday for the purpose of having a group picture taken and for a sort of family reunion.  This gathering was composed of the Biermann brothers, most of whom live in Douglas township, two in Tripoli and one in Chickasaw county, near Ionia.  They had not all met for a number of years, and their coming to Waverly on Monday was a prearranged affair and the day was very much enjoyed.

Family Reunion--A happy family reunion was held at the L.P. Hanson  home on Christmas day when the children were all home for the first time in ten years and gathered around the old home fireside.  A big Christmas dinner was served by Mrs. Hanson and the day was spent in visiting and recalling happenings of childhood's happy days.  The family is now widely scattered and the fact that they could all be together at the holiday season this year was a great pleasure for every one of them.  The boys are all making good in the business world and are an honor to their parents and a credit to their old home town.  Those present at the reunion were Fred A. Hanson and wife of Nashua, Mrs. Geo. D. Smith and husband of Ryder S. Dak., Andrew Hanson and family of Waverly, Guy Hanson of Minnealpolis, C. M. Hanson and wife of Currie, Minn., and Chas. Hanson of Pasco, Wash.
