Merle and Lillian Hayden

 

 

 

Merle Clarence Hayden was born June 12, 1890, and died in Waterloo, Iowa on May 26, 1969. He was the youngest child born to John and Cora Rowley Hayden. He was raised from a boy to manhood in Chickasaw, Iowa. He married Lillian Brandt in New Hampton on December 29, 1913. After this marriage, they lived in Charles City for 25 years. He was employed by Hartparr and Oliver Corporation for 25 years. He was Head Tool Room Superintendent.

 

In 1938 they moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where he was employed at John Deere as a supervisor and general foreman of the tool room. He worked at Deeres for 20 years retiring in 1958. Merle was also in the National Guard in Logansport, Indiana.

They had two children, Searles and Arlyne.
