DELAND, Fla. -- Fern Dresbach, 71, died Saturday (July 13, 1996) at the Volusia Memorial Hospital, DeLand, Fla. She had moved to the Alliance Nursing Home in DeLand, Fla., in June.

Fern Dresbach was born Sept. 10, 1924. She was raised on a farm in Mason City, Iowa, and attended high school at Clear Lake, Iowa.

After graduating from St. Paul Bible College in 1944, she continued her missionary studies at Nyack College in New York, graduating in 1946.

Fern went as a missionary to the Chippewa Indians on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota.

Later she joined family at Big Sugar Bush Lake, Minn., where she and her mother raised Indian welfare children and operated a fishing resort until 1970.

She and her mother moved to Tropical Gardens Mobile Home Park in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was employed by Rosedale Manor where she served in several capacities.

Graveside services will be held at Clear Lake, Iowa, at a later date.

She is survived by a brother, Thomas Mac Dresbach, of Mason City, Iowa; a sister, Tomme Ann Weaver, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a niece, Tammy Dresbach; and four nephews, Rod and Terry Dresbach and Dan and Jonathan Weaver.

MASON CITY -- Graveside services for Fern Dresbach, 71, of Deland, Fla., formerly of Mason City, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 1996, at the Clear Lake Cemetery, with the Rev. Herb Shafer of Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City, officiating.

She died Saturday (July 13, 1996) at the Volusia Memorial Hospital, Deland, Fla.
