MASON CITY - Vincent J. "Jim" DiMarco Jr., 67, of 4164 E. Olive Ave., Higley, Arizona, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday (July 9, 2002) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis A. Cahill, officiating. Following cremation, interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City, where full military honors will be conducted by members of Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

As per Jim's wishes, those planning to attend the visitation and Mass are asked to please dress in casual attire.

Memorials may be given to the Vincent J. DiMarco Jr. Memorial Fund.

Vincent J. DiMarco Jr. was born March 27, 1935, at Mason City, a son of Vincent Sr. and Kay (Abbott) DiMarco. Jim attended Mason City schools and was a graduate of Mason City High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force.

He married Shirley Moeller on May 3, 1976, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

Jim owned and operated Westside Garage in Mason City for 26 years until retiring on March 1, 2002, and moving to Arizona. Jim loved the garage and was very passionate and proud of his work.

He especially loved his family and grandchildren. For several years he bowled in leagues at the Rose Bowl, where he also sponsored bowling teams. He also loved to fish.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus.

Jim's family includes his wife, Shirley DiMarco, of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Cathy and her husband, Corey Jackson, of Mesa, Ariz., Keri and her husband, Chad Blake, of Mason City, and Teri Lyn DiMarco, in Heaven with God; a son, Michael Yoes, of San Angelo, Texas; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Blazer, Hunter, and Alexis; his mother, Kay DiMarco, of Mason City; Jim has several children and grandchildren from a previous marriage; two sisters, Phyllis and her husband, Farrell Offret, and Tina Warr; one brother, Alan DiMarco; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent DiMarco Sr.; and a brother, Richard; also to meet him at the heavenly gate will be his daughter, Teri Lyn DiMarco.
