October 1105P> MASON CITY — William Ardie “Bill” Cory, 82, of Mason City died Sunday (Oct. 2, 2005) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Paul C. Nelson of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Thursday.

Memorials may be directed the William A. Cory Memorial Fund.

William Cory was born on Jan. 3, 1923, in Mason City, the son of Basil and Lena (Lucas) Cory, the second of ten children. Bill attended school in Mason City. He was employed by the City of Mason City Street Department for 28 years.

Bill never had any children of his own. He loved music and was very good at playing the accordion and harmonica. Bill enjoyed listening to his brother, Ruben, and his band sing. He enjoyed playing his many records and watching Tiger Woods play golf on TV. Bill was an avid gardener and many people came to buy his home-grown potatoes. He also enjoyed camping.

Bill will be sadly missed by all of his family.

Survivors include his brother, Ernest Cory, and wife, Darlene, of Mason City; three sisters: Stella Jensen and husband, Earl, of Morristown, Tenn., Elberta Crowe and husband, John, of Mason City, and Marge Wright and husband, Charlie, of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; a special niece, Betty Hoffman; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Cory and Lena Cory; wives, Waneta and Murleane Cory; four brothers: Herman “Skeeter”, Henry “Hank”, Ruben, and Oscar; one sister, Bertha Schaer.
