U.S. contest next for Dana Lichty,
Iowa's Junior Miss

Dana LICHTY, a pert brunette Mason City High School senior, will compete March 9 to 16 in Mobile, Ala., as Iowa's entry in the U.S. Junior Miss contest.

She won the Junior Miss of Iowa title Saturday evening at Sioux City competing against nine other pretty high school seniors. She performed her own composition, a light, humorous piece based on "The Big Bad Wolf" in the talent division and appeared with the others also in the sportswear and evening gown divisions.

With the Iowa crow went a $500 scholarship and a number of other prizes. The scholarship, together with $100 won in the Mason City Junior Chamber contest, will start her to the University of Kansas next year to major in French, she said Monday.

Meanwhile she will compete at Mobile for $5,000 first; $4,000 second; $2,000 third and $1,000 fourth prizes.

At Sioux City she won a still camera, a movie camera, two Bobbie Brooks outfits, a silver charm bracelet and the all-expense paid trip to Mobile for herself and chaperone, "probably my mother."

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. De Ray LICHTY, 1417 Carolina SE.

Marie MUSHRO, Sioux City, and Bonny CAIN, Cedar Rapids, were runners-up in the state pageant. Marsha SAHS, Cedar Rapids, last year's Junior Miss of Iowa, crowned her successor.
