Roger Thomas JOYNT was born on September 9th of 1952, the son of Eugene C. "Gene" and Rita (GIRRES) JOYNT of Mason City. In 1978, Roger was residing at 509 N. Jefferson Avenue, Mason City, Iowa. He was a 1971 alumni of Newman Catholic School and North Iowa Area Community College in 1973.

His body was discovered lying in a ditch 2.5 miles of Interstate-35 along County Road B-20, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, on September 29, 1978. Roger had been shot eight times with a small-caliber gun.

Roger Thomas JOYNT'S murder remains unsolved to this day. He was 26-years-old at the time of his death.
