Mrs. Hattie HAWVER, whose birthday was Thursday, was honored by a group of Rebekah sisters who gathered at her home Wednesday afternon bringing a picnic luncheon as a surprise. Mrs. Chris ESTERGARD was in charge and other Rebekahs assisted in serving and entertaining.

Mrs. HAWVER was born at Floyd, the daughter of Richard and Caroline LOWN, and came to Clear Lake as a small child in 1875. She attended a select school in what is now the Clausen barn and was a classmate of the late S. J. HAMMOND. Mrs. HAWVER and her sister, Mrs. Daisy ADAMS, live at 203 Jefferson street. They have a brother, Clyde LOWN, Mason City, who, with his wife, visited them Armistice day. Mrs. HAWVER received a number of cards in honor of her birthday.
