VENTURA — A new veterans memorial was unveiled Friday at the Ventura Community Center in honor of Veterans Day.

The memorial was unveiled by Ventura Mayor Lynn Benson and Vietnam veteran Kenny Coe.

The Clear Lake VFW Honor Guard, led by Post 4868 Commander Mike Nelson, was on hand for the event.

The Ventura City Council says it wanted to pay tribute to servicemen and woman and recognize the sacrifices they and their families have made to protect the country.
