S. Sgt. Schreckengost Was Taken a Prisoner on Dec. 1 in France A card from S/Sgt. Harold E. SCHRECKENGOST, who has been listed as missing in action in France since last Dec. 1, brings the information that he has been a prisoner of war of the German government since that date. S/Sgt. SCHRECKENGOST had been overseas only one month before his capture. According to a letter received from him in November, as staff sergeant, he was leading a group of 30 men in a sniping expedition. It is presumed that the entire group was captured. The card, dated Dec. 12, has just been received here. It was a form card filed out in SCHRECKENGOST'S own handwriting and signed by him. It stated that he was then in Stalag No. 12, German prison camp. No word has yet been received from the war department except the notification that he was missing. Harold is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed SCHRECKENGOST, 1450 4th S. E. He has been in the service since Dec., 1942. NOTE: Harold was repatriated and returned to life in Mason City.
