Pvt. Keith I. HAIGHT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elgar Z. HAIGHT, route 3, has returned to Camp Iron Mountain in the Mojave desert after a 15-day furlough spent here. His basic training was at Camp Roberts, Cal., where he was the boxing champion of the 11th regiment. He expects to be transferred again the last of this month.

in Luxembourg Since December 22 Pvt. Keith L. HAIGHT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elgar Z. HAIGHT, route 3, has been missing in action in Luxembourg since Dec. 22, according to word received from the war department. Pvt. HAIGHT has been overseas a year and has seen front line action in France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Pvt. Keith Haight Missing in December Taken Prisoner Then
One card, the first one written bears the postmark of Jan. 31 and was written from Stalag VI-G. It said in part: "Am a prisoner of war now. Was captured in December. I'm in a hospital, but not wounded badly. Send a small package when you can. See you after the war." The 2nd card, postmarked Feb. 8 said that he was getting along fine and repeated that he "would be seeing you after the war." Pvt. HAIGHT was serving with Hodge's 1st army and was wounded in the battle of the Belgian bulge, according to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elgar Z. HAIGHT, route 3. He went overseas in Feb., 1943, and had been in England, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Taken Prisoner Last December by Germans in Luxmbourg A message from the war department to Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. HAIGHT, route 3, states that their son, Pvt. Keith L. HAIGHT, had been returned to military control on May 7. Pvt. HAIGHT was taken prisoner in Luxembourg by the Germans last December. He was serving with Hodge's first army and was slightly wounded in action during the Belgian bulge. His parents had been notified that he was missing in December and did not learn until April that he had been captured in December. He had been held at Stalag G-6 and later taken to Stalag IV-B, where it is thought he was at the time of his release. HAIGHT went overseas in February, 1943, and had served in England, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

As Prisoner He Worked in Mine and on Railroad
HAIGHT went into France on D-Day plus one and fought at St. Lo, Brest and Paris with the 3rd army and was captured at Kiekirk, Germany, in the battle of the bulge. He fought with the 3rd, 9th and first armies and was a machine gunner at the time of his capture. He was twice wounded. While a prisoner of war he worked in a mine and on the railroad, living on a cup of coffee and one bowl of soup daily. He suffered beatings and bayonet thrusts when the work slowed up, it was reported. Pvt. HAIGHT was liberated by the Russians in Sudetenland, Germany, and joining them fought on to Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he was finally returned to American military control the last of May. He holds the presidential unit citation, the purple heart, good conduct ribbon, ATO ribbon and the ETO ribbon with 2 stars.

at that time by the Germans according to 2 cards received from him here Saturday.
Pvt. Keith l. HAIGHT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elgar HAIGHT, route 3, has reported to Hot Springs, Ark., after a 60-day work
leave following 6 months as a prisoner of war in Germany. After a rest and checkup there he will be reassigned.
