Burchinal co-op is growing

BURCHINAL — Five Star Cooperative is making improvements to its Burchinal location.

The project includes building two 550,000-bushel storage grain bins, a 110,000-bushel holding bin, a 5,000-bushel-per-hour dryer and a wet dump capable of dumping loads of grain at a rate of 15,000 bushel per hour, said Gene Toppin, location manager.

Toppin said the improvements are to “be a service to the farmers” and “to take more grain and dump faster.”

The project should be completed by fall harvest.

Five Star Cooperative is based out of New Hampton and has several locations throughout the North Iowa area.
