Churches pictured above:
Top Row, L-R: 1. our Savior's Lutheran, 2. First Methodist, 3. St. James Lutheran
2nd Row: 4. Trinity Lutheran, 5. Bethlehem Lutheran
3rd Row: 6. Holy Family Catholic, 7. Central Lutheran
Bottom: 8. Hellenic Orthodox

These eight churches are the new churches built in Mason City the past five years.

These new building with additions and improvements added by other churches, notably the Wesley Methodist, which doubled the size of its sanctuary, and the First Christian, which renovated the interior, brings the total expenditure for places of worship considerable above the $3 million mark.

This section of the Centennial issue is devoted to presenting the dramatic story of this church construction that climaxed a century of religious life in the community, as well as the story of other churches built in earlier periods.
