Obituary of Mrs. Josephine E. Stooldryer

FUNERAL TO BE ON WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. STOOLDRYER
BRITT -- Josephine E. Stooldryer, 78, of Britt and Garner, died Monday morning at the Good Samaritan Home, Mason City, where she had lived for the past three years.
She was born Aug. 29, 1878, at Racine, Wis., to Frederick and Sophie Burmaster Holkan. She moved with her parents to Webster City [IA] where she attended school. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Webster City on April 11, 1897.
She was married May 29, 1897, to Anton F. Stooldryer at Rib Lake, Wis. They farmed between Rib Lake and Medford, Wis. She had lived near Garner and Britt since 1926.
Mrs. Stooldryer has been ill since 1953 when she suffered a stroke.
Surviving are six children: Jay H. Stooldryer, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Josephine House, Des Moines; Harvey H. Stooldryer, Maquoketa; Kenneth Stooldryer, Eau Claire, Wis.; Richard Stuhley, Seattle, Wash.; and Roy S. Stuhley, Brea, Calif; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Anthony, in 1915; a brother, Will Holkan, and a sister, Mary Reinhardt.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Garner since Feb. 16, 1928, and was past noble grand of the Garner chapter.
Services will be held at the Boughton Funeral Home in Britt on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. B.A. Rust will be in charge. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
~ She lived in the Garner, IA area for years but over the last years of her life she lived in a nursing home in Mason City, IA.
