Nathaniel Adams was born on May 6, 1814 in Auburn, Maine. He married Emma Ann
Child on Jan 1, 1838 in Massachusetts.
They moved to Cerro Gordo County before 1857.
They had six children.
1. Emma Elizabeth Adams was born on14 Feb 1816 in Massachusetts. She married
Osman Barrette Thompson on 15 Mar 1861 in Cerro Gordo and she died here on 24
Jan 1887 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
2. Charles Morrill Adams was on 29 Dec 1843 in Massachusetts. He was buried in
Elmwood Cemetery on 8 Jun 1926.
3. George Matthew Adams was born on 14 Sep 1843 in Massachusetts. He died in
1926 in Mason City.
4. Ida Adams was born in 1848 in Massachusetts.
5. James Adams was born in 1850 in Massachusetts.
6. Clara (Carrie) was born in Mason Township, Cerro Gordo in April, 1860.
The Deyoe Family
Surnames: Dillion, Gillette, Watkins & Yorker
Stephen Magordis Deyoe was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on 30 Jun 1837. He
married Mary Ann Watkins in Wisconsin. She died in Mason City on May 13, 1921.
He died in Mason City on July 30, 1924. They had four children.
1. Albert McClelland Deyoe was born in Wisconsin on 15 Nov 1862 and died in Des
Moines on 16 Sep 1936.
2. William Richard Deyoe was born in Wisconsin on 2 May 1867. He married Abigail
Yorker. He died in Mason City on 1 May 1887.
3. George Magordis Deyoe was born in Mason City on 18 Sep 1872. he married Mary
Belle Gillette in Cerro Gordo County on 25 Nov 1897. He died in Mason City on 9
Sep 1943.
4. Stephen Clyde Deyoe was born in Mason City on 24 Dec 1877. He married Mary F.
Dillion. He died on 19 Sep 1947
The Gillette Family
Surnames: Barber, Crall, Deyoe, Hodgson, Horan, Rowe, Stevens & Thompson,
Henry Aaron Wise Gillette was born on 14 Jul 1839 in Benton, Wisconsin. He
married Jane (Jennie) Rowe on 25 Mar 1869 and moved to Cerro Gordo in 1870. Jane
died in Mason City on 25 Aug 1900. Henry, in his later years, spent the winter
months in Los Angeles, California where he died on 21 Mar 1923. They are both
buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City. They had eight children.
1. James Albert Gillette was born 29 May 1870 in Mason Twp, in Cerro Gordo. He
married Mabel Crall in Feb 1891 and Ruby Barber in 1912. He died in Araphoe,
Nebraska.
2. Jeannette (Nettie) Sarah Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 30 Jan 1872. She
married Charles Barrette Thompson on 5 Apr 1893. She died in Santa Monica,
California on 17 Apr 1964.
3. Mary Belle (Mabel) Gillette was born 10 Feb 1874 in Cerro Gordo. She married
George Magordis Deyoe on 25 Nov 1897. She died in Mankato, Minnesota on 28 Dec
1954.
4. Harry William Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 16 Oct 1876 and died there
on 12 Mar 1937
5. Philo Webster Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 10 Feb 1878. he married
Mary Wanda Horan in San Francisco and died there on 27 Mar 1933.
6. Ida May Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 28 May 1881 and died there on 13
Aug 1881.
7. Daisy Adell Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 16 May 1883. She married
Robert Raw Hodgson in Iowa and died in Madison, South Dakota on 11 Dec 1954.
8. Ruth Ella Gillette was born in Cerro Gordo on 3 Oct 1886. She married John
Percy Stevens in 1910. She died in Sep 1925 in Santa Monica, California.
The Benjamin Thompson Family
Surnames: Adams, Boynton, Gibbs, Owens. (Second & third marriages
Van Patter & Miller)
Benjamin Thompson Jr. was born in Gilsum, New Hampshire in 1802 and died there
in 1850. He married Lucenia Gibbs in 1830. After Benjamin died Lucenia moved to
Cerro Gordo in 1855 with her three sons.
1. Albert Mason Thompson born in New Hampshire in 1834. He married Elizabeth
(Lizzie) Boynton in 1855 in New Hampshire. They moved to Cerro Gordo where the
first of their eight children was born in 1856. The first school in Mason City
was taught by Lizzie Thompson in 1856. Albert was listed as Deputy Sheriff in
the 1860 Census. He was elected Sheriff in October 1867.
2. Osman Barrette Thompson was born in New Hampshire in 1939. He married Emma
Elizabeth Adams on Cerro Gordo on 16 Mar 1861. He burned to death in a fire in
Mexico, Missouri 2 Jan 1920 while living with a son. He is buried in Elmwood
Cemetery in Mason City.
3. Orin Thompson was born in New Hampshire in 1840. He married Martha Ann Owens
in 1862. He died in Mason City in 1908.
Lucenia married Simeon Van Patter in Cerro Gordo on 16 Sep 1856. Simeon died on
7 Apr 1860. Lucenia married Andrew T. (Stephen) Miller in Cerro Gordo in 1860.
He died 3 Dec 1866. Lucenia died 23 Sep 1875 in Mason City.
The Charles Thompson Family
Surnames: Barnes, Beers, Carey, Clarke, Gillette, Hambright, Henderson,
Peterson, Siem and Tysdale,
Charles Barrette Thompson was born 1 Oct 1869 in Mason City. He married Jennette
(Nettie) Sarah Gillette on 5 Apr 1893. He died in Santa Monica, California in
1941. They had the following children:
1. Lester Raeburn Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 8 may 1894. He married
Josephine May Beers in 1922. He died in Phoenix, AZ in 1970.
2. Mildred May Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 30 May 1895 and died in
California in 1957.
3. Roscoe Gillette Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 3 Jul 1896. He married
Clara Barnes in 1918 and died in California in 1970.
4. Harold Dewey Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 23 Nov 1897. He married
Grace Ruth Clarke in 1925 and died in the state of Washington in 1966.
5. Hubert Allen Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 23 Nov 1898. He married
Bertha Henderson in 1920. He died in San Antonio, TX in 1964.
6. Ruth Ella Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 2 Oct 1900. She married Edwin
Lee Carey 10 1923. Ruth died in California in 1985.
7. Theodore Roosevelt Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 19 Oct 1901. He
married Esther Siem in 1929. He died in South Dakota in 1972.
8. Merle Frances Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 16 Apr 1903. She married
John Allen Tysdale in 1928. She died in South Dakota in 1964.
9. Clifford Shirley Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 18 Dec 1904. He married
Sue Apca Rae Hambright in 1936. He died in San Antonio, TX in 1978.
10. Jennie Elizabeth Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 8 Jul 1908. She married
Earl Peterson in 1927. She died in California in 1970
11. Maxwell Ellsworth Thompson was born in Cerro Gordo on 25 Jan 1911. He
married Linnea Christina Thompson in 1936. He died in Colorado in 1988.

Osman Barrette Thompson was born in
Gilsum Township, Cheshire, New Hampshire in 1838. His father died in 1850. His
mother and two brothers moved to Cerro Gordo County in 1855. He married Emma
Elizabeth Adams on 16 Mar 1861. He died in a fire in Mexico, Missouri while
living there with his son Shirley. They had the following children.
1. Ella Isabelle Thompson was born 7 Jun 1862. She married David M. Deen. She
died Jan 1910.
2. Jeannie Elizabeth Thompson was born 12 Mar 1868 and died in 1892.
3. Charles Barrette Thompson was born 1 Oct 1869. He married Jennette Sarah
Gillette in 1892. He died in Santa Monica, California
4 Jan 1941.
4. Shirley Thompson was born about 1871 and he must of died in infancy.
5. Shirley C. Thompson, a male, was born Mar 1862.
