1807 S. Kentucky Avenue, Mason City Mason Township, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa
Six families met at the local YMCA on November 11, 1908 to establish the Faith Baptist Fellowship. On July 5th of the
following year, the first Sunday service was held at Mohawk Square in Mason City, IA. On October 11, 1981, Faith Baptist
Fellowship was dissolved and was replaced by Faith Baptist Church with thirty-two people signing as charter members of the
church. Jerry Johnson was called as missionary pastor January 22, 1981. In January of 1982, the church voted to seek
fellowship with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC) and the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist
Churches (IARBC).
In April of 1984, the property and church building at 1807 S. Kentucky were purchased from the Missionary Alliance Church,
with a new auditorium and fellowship hall added to the facilities in 1984-1985. In May of 1988, following the church's
graduation to self-support, Pastor JOHNSON resigned to plant a church in Pennsylvania. Miles GRISMORE began his ministry
as the first fully supported pastor on January 15, 1989. David CALLISON was called as the associate pastor July 11, 1990.
On September 5, 1993, the same day the mortgage was burned from previous construction, ground was broken for a new
auditorium and fellowship hall. In November 2004, the church voted to purchase the house and additional lots across
the street from the church to be used as a parsonage and additional parking. A new staff position of Associate of
Outreach & Discipleship was approved in January 2005. Scott GREENING accepted the church's call and began January 2006.
In November 2008, the church commissioned Scott & Brooke Greening as church planters to Chicago with Baptist Church
Planters. One month later, the church commissioned Pat & Bonnie RYAL to go as missionaries to Nicaragua with ABWE.
Most recently, February 28, 2010, the church called Scott ONOFRIO to fill the position of Associate of Outreach &
Discipleship, and July 25, 2010, called Greg GOSNELL as Associate of Youth & Children's Ministries. Submission by Sharon R. Becker, February of 2011
