Lime Creek Church was organized in 1872, with six charter members, including Isaac STEVENS and wife. Elder Nelson JEFFERS
was the first pastor. There are some references of a church by this name meeting in the Nora Springs vicinity.
The church united with the Turkey River Association in June 1875, and the minutes for that year
show that an annual meeting was scheduled to be held in October 1875, at the house of Elder Nelson JEFFERS, five miles
southwest of Mason City. In 1876, the messengers representing the church at the Association were J. PIERSOL, Nelson JEFFERS,
and William C. BROWN. The church voted in 1899, to move the place of its meetings to Garden City, Minnesota. On February
5, 1900, a new church was organized at Garden City, by Abram B. LESTER, S. A. LESTER, Henry JAMES, E. JAMES, Elizabeth A.
MURPHY, and Irene MURPHY, by a presbytery composed of Elders William MORPHEW and Garrett MURPHY of Lime Creek Church.
BROWN, JEFFERS, MORPHEW, MUPRHY, PIERSOL, STEVENS (very incomplete list due to loss of records).
