1883 History of
Franklin and Cerro Gordo Counties, Iowa


D. W. Telford, attorney, real estate and loan broker, is located in the postoffice building in Mason City, where he has been operating since Dec. 24, 1881. He was born in DeKalb Co., Ill., Nov. 17, 1851. His parents, Francis and Julia Ann (Sutton) Telford, were married in De Kalb county and there reared their family, three sons and two daughters. Mr. Telford is the eldest son. He was brought up on a farm, went to the public schools and attended Madison University of Wisconsin.

He entered the law office of Lowell, Kellum & Cames, afterward Lowell & Cames, at Sycamore, Ill., in 1877, to read law. He was admitted to the bar in Illinois in 1879, and continued in the office until the fall of 1880. He has, by attention to business, secured a considerable share of the legal business of the city and surrounding country.

Mr. Telford was married in 1880 to Miss J. M Waterman, daughter of Lyman Waterman, of Sycamore, Ill. They have one daughter- May Pearl. Mr. Telford belongs to the Knights of Pythias.
