Transcriber's Notes - Brostow Town Enumeration


There was a letter included with the census data and stamped as page 737. It
was from the office of Geo. W. Conn, Auditor of Butler County. The letter
read:
 
W. M McFarland                                  Allison, Iowa,   Aug. 8 1895
Sec'y of State
Des Moines Ia
 
    Dear Sir,           Your favor concerning residence in Township of
families in the Town of Bristow at hand. Return of book recd yesterday and
marked upon outside and returned before your letter came to hand.
 
All the families in Bristow live in West Point Twp. except the families
designated below by the number of the family as per census returns.

                                  Very truly yours,
                                    Geo W. Conn
                                      County auditor

The letter goes on to list the families by their Family number.  The census
itself had lines drawn above and below that family with a connecting bracket
commented with "Pittsford Township". This was done throughout for those
certain families.  These marks seem to by written in another hand, since it
does not look like the enumerator's or Geo W Conn's hand writting.
