This is an open letter to all county coordinators for the IAGenWeb project --
First, I would like to commend you on the wonderful service you provide for your county.
I have visited many sites looking for census records. There are so many wonderful sites
for Iowa. Our visitors are very lucky.
I know the work involved in transcribing and getting information online for your visitors.
Still, I would like to ask your assistance in getting our valuable state census records transcribe
and online. If you are working on a census for your county, please drop me a line at
.
I will love to post it here to make your info available to those who visit here and need to search
state-wide.
Also, we have an agreement with our transcribers that info transcribed for the State Census Project
will be available to county coordinators to add to their site. You are more than welcome
to link directly to the State Census page for your county or copy the file and present it on your
website in any manner that you'd like as long as all the header information in the transcript
remain with the file.
The following permission statement is added to all state census transcriptions: "The
transcriber has granted permission to the IAGenWeb Project to utilize and store these pages, and
the data herein, permanently for free access on USGenWeb Iowa Project pages and IAGenWeb state
and county pages."
It would be wonderful, if you are transcribing state census records, to send a copy of the completed
file to the IAGenWeb State Census Project. You can send the file to us at the email address
below and we will get it online ASAP. This is a great way to make your transcript available
for state-wide searching!
This project pledges to make ALL Iowa State Census material available on one site. We will not
stop until that day comes! Please help us in this monumental and important endeavor.
If I can be of any assistance, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you so much for your
time and devotion to the IA GenWeb.
Sincerely,
Steve
