Franco of Tipton Ia., Executive Committee the President Charles Swartzlander, W. T. Gilmore, Music by the Quartet. Adress by Mildred Phelps. Short talk by Judg Moffit. This by Judge Moffet – Mrs. Mildred (Yule) Phelps, a daughter of Samuel Yule who setted Red Oak in 1837, gave a talk it was a frightfully hot afternoon. Mrs. Phelps told about the earliest survey of a part of the County. In addition to this she had made searches amoung the papers of some of the old settlers. She had _?_ read and exhibited to us some very interesting material one long page of foolscass very yellow and very thin, containing the report of M. ___ the teacher who taught Joe Head School in 1845. This list gave the names of persons attending, the studies they persued and the number of days they attended. She also had the original subscription of the people in the neighborhood who organized and raised the funds with which to buy the original ten acres which form Red Oak Park.

A vote of thanks was given to Mrs. Phelps, expressive of the kindly feeling of the audience for the many, many hours she had spent in accumulating the material which she used.

On motion of John T. Moffet, seconded by Dr. L. Leech of West Branch. Mrs. Mildred (Yule) Phelps was designated and elected as Permint Historian of Cedar County Old Settlers Association. After the election she asked that every time friends found items of interest they mail them to her so that she could file them and use them. Col $4.35 paid out. Quartet $2.00. Programs and typing $1.50. Mrs. Mildred Yule Phelps was elected County Historian. Copies of this sent State Historical Society by John T. Moffet. Song Auld Lang Syne. Balance of col 85 cts.
