June 10th 1921 was the 85th anniversary of the organization of the Old Settlers association of Cedar Co Iowa the association held its 50th meeting in the Court House on that date and was called to order at 11 oclock AM by President James A Cessford. The following committee to recommend candidates for officers was appointed W W Little, George Beatty, HW Franco. Meeting was then adjourned.

Met again at 2 oclock P.M. at which time the program was opened by quartette Mrs Furnish, Mrs. McBurney, Mrs Brotherlin and Mrs Hoffman. Prayer was offered by Reverend Paul Brielow. Secretary read the minutes of the 1920 meeting and the treasurer read financial report. The quartette gave another song. H W Franco of the committee on candidates reported the following men for the following year President John Wingert, Vice President Charles Swatzlander, Secretary F L Sheldon, Treasurer J W Reeder. Executive Committee H W Franco, M H Miller, George Beatty, T A Spear, John T Moffit who were elected. The elected President was installed. Song by quartette and the Secretary read the obituaries of the sixty old settlers who had passed away since the last meeting. This was followed by a talk to the Old Settlers by John Tuthill of Waterloo on which was enthusiastically received by all present. A collection was taken amounting to $29.29.

The call for voluntary speeches was responded by talks from J W Reeder, W T Rigby, O S Johnson and the reading on some early history of Cedar Co by Mrs. J E Kirkpatrick. Judge John T Moffit called the roll of Old Settlers present from 1836 to 1856. Meeting was formally adjourned to June 10th 1922.

2. S W Rathbun was born near Mechanicsville Cedar Co Iowa May 20th 1840. Married Miss E A Worline in Aug 1862. Died at his home at Marion Iowa July 6th 1921 aged 81 years 1 month 16 days.
