35. James Ford, Born in Tipton Iowa in 1852 Married Miss Nettie Edwards June 4th, 1887, died in Burlington Iowa April 14th 1917.

36. Wiseman Miller. Born in Cedar Co. Iowa in 1845. Married. Died at Pasadena California May 4th 1917.

37. Arvin Bagley. Born in Knox Co. Ohio in 1836, came to Cedar Co. Iowa in 1840. Married. Died at the home of his daughter Mrs. F. L. Cowan at Deluth Minn. May 25th 1917.

38. Herman Piatt. Born in Penn June 12th 1848 came to Cedar Co. Iowa in 1861. Married Miss Lydia M. Lyle Jan. 11th, 1877. Died at his home in Tipton May 26th 1917.

39. John Leower. Born in Wayne Co. Ohio April 24th 1872 came to Cedar Co. Iowa in 1870. He was twice married, died at the home of his son Sam Leower at Atlanta, Ga. June 8th 1917.

The 81st anniversary and 46th meeting of the Old Settlers Association of Cedar Co. Iowa was called to Order at 11 a.m. in the Court House by President W. L. Lyle. The appointment of the following nominating committee followed Carl H. Mather, P. H. Downing, George H. Escher. Then the meeting adjourned until 2 o’clock P.M. A Quartet consisting of Miss Helen Deardorf, Mrs. Wm. M. Furnish, Chas Foy and M. R. H. Hanek delighted the audience with Annie Laurie and other pleasing Melodies. Then a prayer by the Rev. W. E. Van Buren was offered and the Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Report of the Treasurer W. W. Reeder showed that a cash balance of $11.50 was on hand. The report of the nominating committee led in the following election of officers for 1917. President F. H. Spear, Vice Presidents H. Onstott, John Lohman, Andrew Moffet, Carr Todd.

Minutes of 1917 Brought forward

Sherman Gates, Secretary Treasurer J. W. Reeder. Executive Committee Charles Swatzlander F. H. Miligan, E. G. Walker, Oliver Johnson, George E. Beatty. The reading of obituaries showed that during the last year Forty of Cedar Co. Old Settlers had passed away. Rev. A. M. Pastor of St. Pauls church at Cedar Rapids delivered an excellent address on the Subject Living up to the past. The sermon closed with a few brief speeches by the Old Settlers after which a roll call was taken of the Members present, the year they came or were born in Cedar Co. At a meeting of the Executive committee of the Old Settlers association of Cedar County Iowa, Sherman Gates resigned as Secretary of the association and H. L. Sheldon was appointed to act as Secretary for the balance of the year ending June 10th, 1918.

2. Homer C. Frink, 93, was born in New York March 5th 1824 came to Iowa in 1854. Married Miss Helen M. Jobes, Oct. 20th, 1859. Died at his home in Clarence Iowa, July 14th, 1917.

5. Jessie C. Wills Jan. 28th ’50 was born in Wis. 1856, came to Cedar Co. in Married Miss Louise Boone Feb. 10th 1876. Died at his home in Tipton Sept. 16th, 1917.

8. Lambert Call was born in New Jersey Jan. 21st 1844, came to Cedar Co. in. Married Miss Anna Seull July 4th, 1866. Died at Lime City Nov. 3rd, 1917.

9. Charles E. Mather was born at Salem, Ohio, Dec. 8, 1850, came to Cedar Co. Iowa in 1851. Married Miss Mary Knudson Feb. 13th, 1883. Died at his home in Springdale Oct. 29th, 1917.

Our 82nd anniversary and 47th meeting of the Old Settlers association of Cedar Co. Iowa was called to order at 11 a.m. in the Court House by President F. H. Spear. The appointment of the following nominating committee followed F. H. Miligan, John F. Moffit and O. S. Johnson. Then the meeting adjourned until 2 o’clock p.m., then there was a song by the Quartette composed of A. E. Remmble, Douglas Patterson, Miss Marie France and Mary Miligan. Then a prayer by Rev. Will Kinon. Reading of minutes of last meeting. Omitted report of Treasurer showed nothing on hand. The report of the nominating committee led in the following election of officers and executive committee for the ensuing year:

43. Martin Metz was born at Pine Creek, Muscatine Co. Iowa Aug. 11th, 1858, came to Cedar Co. 1860. Married wife Margaret Maurer April 29th, 1878. Died at his home in Miller Neb. June 9th, 1919, aged 60 years, 8 months, 28 days.

44. Mrs. Henrietta (Gettered) Metz was born in Germany May 20th, 1829, came to Muscatine, Co. Iowa in 1853. Came to Cedar Co. in 1860. Married George Michael Metz Sept. 26th, 1855. Died at the home of her sons Martin Metz at Miller, Neb. June 4th, 1919, aged 90 years, 28 days.
