Died near this place 31 July 1852, Wit Carter, aged 18 years, 3 months, 6 days, only son of and only child of George W. and Mary Carter.

Almina Cummins vs. Ellinor Cummins, ET AL.. in Chancery Bill of Peace: Cedar co. District court, Sept term, A.D. 1852. To Ellinor Cummnis, John D. Cummins, Samuel Cummins, David Cummins, Ellen Cummins, Margaret Cummins, Susannah Steuart, and Jane Steuart, defendants in the above mentioned cause. You and each of you are hereby notified that Almina Cummins the widow of William Cummins, deceased, complainant in said cause has filed in the office of the Clerk of the District court, within and for said county, her petition stating that she is entitled to certain Real estate therein described, situate in said county as the sole heir of the infant child of said William Cummins, deceased, to whom the same was devised, by the last will and testament of said William Cummins, which was duly proved and admitted to Probate in said county on the 2st day of July, A.D. 1844; and praying that her title to said real estate may be fully ascertained and declared by a decree of said court.
And you and each of you as the defendants therein named, are required to plead, answer or demur to the bill of the complainant aforesaid on or before the 19th day of April, A.D. 1853, being the second day of the next term of said court, or a decree pre confesso will be entered up against you in accordance with the prayer of the petition.
You are also notified that on the 3rd day of January, A.D. 1853, a commission will be sued out of the office of the Clerk of said court, directed to Emerson Goodrich, Esq., Clerk of the Court of Common pleas, of the county of Tuscarawas, and State of Ohio, at his office in New Philadelphia, authorizing and empowering him to take the deposition of such witnesses as may there be produced for the purpose of perpetuating such testimony and that the same may be used as evidence on the hearing of said cause. Distressing Case.: One of the most painful bereavements that we have had recently to record is that which has befallen a German resident of this city, Mr. John George Koch. Having established himself in business here he write to Germany for his family to come to this country. In company with her sister, his wife started with her 7 children. They were prospered so far as New Orleans, but ere they reached St. Louis, the wife, sister, and 3 children died; In the hospital at St. Louis, they left the 4th child. At Montrose a 5th was buried and only 2 of that numerous family have reached their destination.
