STANWOOD. Population, 511. An incorporated town, located on the C. & N. W. Ry, in Fremont township, Cedar county, 8 miles n. of Tipton, the judicial seat, 30 e. of Cedar Rapids, and 170 e. of Des Moines. Has a bank, a weekly newspaper, the Herald, a graded public school and German Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Exp., Am. Tel., W. U.; G. W. Sisler, postmaster.
