Dedication

I will always remember the beautiful Sunday morning of November 1, 1959. The day we had all been working and waiting for, had arrived. For many months, hands has been busy placing every stone, pipe, cement block, and whatever else was needed, in just the right spot, and every mind was wondering just what will it really look like.

The day had arrived and I was excited. I left home early to have a quick look inside the church, before taking my place in the kitchen helping to get things ready for the big dinner, following the morning service.

When I opened the door about 8:00 a.m., the pastor, Theo Eickelberg stood just inside looking up at the ray's of sun streaming down through the colored window panes and he said, “This is too wonderful to believe, everything is done and just in its right place, all shining new; and just look at all the flowers we have received from our friends. Surely the Lord's blessing is shining on us today.”

Outside on the sidewalk in the bright sun, people young and old were anxious for the ribbon to be cut and the door unlocked.

Soon the bell tolled and the service began. Beautiful music from the pipe organ called the men to the altar carrying the vessels back into our new house of worship. These same men had carried them out of the old church on August 10, 1958.

Every pew was filled as well as every chair. There was room for close to . . .

. . . 900 people.

The service began and the Dedication of the new church had truly come. We all, with joyful hearts, thanked the Lord for our new church, Trinity Lutheran.

The above picture was taken at 12:21 p.m. on Aug. 13, 1958 by Dick Sennett of The Lowden News. Taking down the steeple was the first step in razing the old Trinity Church to make room for the new edifice.

Carillon Dedicated in 1973

A Schulmerich Magne-Bell Carillon was purchased for Trinity Lutheran church by Dr and Mrs C. R. Montz, and children, Frederick John Montz II, Paul and Jennifer Rechlin, in memory of Mrs Montz' dad, Emil Stolte, who died July 6, 1972.

The Carillon is capable of playing recorded carillon bells over an amplifier with speakers in the tower. The Carillon Player was dedicated in 1973.

The Montz's requested that the instrument be “dedicated to the glory of God in loving memory of our dad, Emil Stolte, and in gratitude to our gracious Lord for our families and for our Lowden friends, whose lives have touched ours along the way.”
