IDELLE CHAPTER
ORDER OF EASTERN STAR

       The Idelle Chapter No. 491, Order of Eastern Star, was organized and received its charter October 30, 1919. The first matron was Mrs. Louella Jackson, and patron was J. E. Baker. The group met for many years in rooms above the old bank building. In 1939 the chapter equipment was moved to rooms above the Stanwood Lumber Company office. In 1960 there were over 100 members. Due to lack of officers to continue its work, the Idelle Chapter, Order of Eastern Star surrendered its charter in 1968.

       The Past Matron’s Circle was organized January 17, 1938 at the home of Mrs. Roland Spear. Mrs. Bertha Walters, Miriam Chapter, Westside, Iowa 1915, was the first president. Other officers were Vice-president, Edna Gardner and . . .

. . . Secretary-treasurer, Hazel Spear. The following were charter members: Neva Wilson, Hazel Spear, Miriam Klahn, Bertha Walters, Louella Long, Myrl Spear, Florence Tilden, Lena Somes, Gladys Hart, Anna Wilkins, Florence Crist, Ray Baker, and Edna Gardner. In 1960 there were 27 active members.

       Present officers are as follows: Mrs. Elmer Bixler, President, Mrs. Ray Bails, Vice-president, and Mrs. Ora Hoy, Secretary- treasurer.
