The first religious services to he held in the neighborhood of Lowden were in the Methodist denomination. These services were held in a schoolhouse, one and one-half miles southeast of Lowden by a Rev. Gilbruth. He was followed by a Rev. Amos. In 1861 a Methodist Church was built on the present Henry Freese proberty. The Rev. E. J. Kynett was presiding elder and the Rev. J. M. Hedges, pastor. For a number of years this was the only church here holding Sunday School and worship services in the English language. This church was torn down in 1923. | |

Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Conrad, Married 61 years; Mrs. Conrad, 84, is Lowden's oldest native born woman. Mr. Conrad, 89, was born on a farm south of Lowden. C.E. Kroemer, 85 ~ Mrs. C.E. Kroemer, 84. Mr. and Mrs. Kroemer observed their 63rd wedding anniversay May 18, `95. Both born on farms in Massillon twp. and have spent entire lives in this vicinity. | |
