Dora Schloemer was born northwest of Lowden on the farm now occupied by the Robert Bunge family.
As a young woman, she worked in Cedar Rapids for Col. C. D. Robbins, whose daughter later became the wife of Gov. Larrabee.
She made her home in Lowden, living with her two daughters, Selma and Hilda. Her husband preceded her in death. A son, Edwin, is also deceased.
Mrs. Schloemer had a clear mind and a keen sense of humor. When asked what she attributed to her longevity, she remarked that she never smoked nor drank.

Mrs. Licht was born in Germany and came to America at the age of eleven.
Married to Louis Licht in 1895, she lived on a farm northeast of Lowden until 1924, when they moved to town.
She had a family of 8 children, all still living, and was a sincere, devout Christian and member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Licht has a talent for memorizing verses and hymns and knew the words to at least 100 hymns.
