    The Durant Centennial Committee was organized in the summer of 1953 for the purpose of promoting the one hundredth anniversary of the town. A gala two day celebration is being planned for July 31st and August 1st. A feature of the festivities will be the parade to be held at noon (DST) on Saturday, July 31st. Each evening the Centennial Pageant “Stars Over Durant” will be presented depicting some of the more colorful events of Durant’s history. The entire two days will be filled with entertainment for both young and old.
   Raymond H. Christensen is the General Chairman, assisted by Carl F. Miller, Co-chairman and Mrs. Albert J. Mumm, Secretary-Treasurer. Other Centennial Committee Chairmen are as follows:
