Lend-A-Hand

The Lend-A-Hand was organized in 1949. At that time President was Mrs. Viola Wiebke, Vice-President-Mrs. Ruth Rix, and Secretary-Treasurer-Mrs. Elna Graf, plus the following members, Clara Burmeister, Irma Dircks, Evelyn Hasselbusch, Elizabeth Meyer, Alma Rix, Erma Steinke, Jeanette Brendes, Irene Decker and Evelyn Ibsen.

Our present membership is 22, with President-Karen Johnson, Vice-President-Elda Licht, Secretary-Delores Frey, Treasurer-Debbie Helmond, and Historian-Helen Ibsen, plus the following members, Jeanette Brendes, Joyce Coppess, Nonie Dewell, Leona Dewell, Diane Dircks, Marie Goldsmith, Arlynn Hasselbusch, Ruth Hormann, Phyllis Hunwardsen, Joyce Ibsen, Kathryn Koth, Pat Meyer, Mary Kay Mostaert, Kris Plueger, Elaine Pruess, Helen Rowald and Ruth Schmacher.

Through the years, many have worked together as friends to help others and support our church in various ways. Quilts, towels, blankets and other articles have been purchased or sewed to aid homes and hospitals. Gifts of toys or money are sent to children’s homes yearly at Christmastime. We have purchased toys and supplies for our own nursery and provide camp scholarships for the youth of our church.

The Lend-A-Hand members hold meetings on the second Wednesday of every month. The members make craft items to sell at an annual bazaar. We serve Lions Club meals twice a month and the members have complied recipes for a cookbook. Proceeds from the bazaar, Lions meals and cookbooks are used for helping others or any needs the church may have.

The group enjoys serving at wedding receptions, anniversaries, dinners and other opportunities that arrive during the year.
