CENTERDALE ELEVATOR BURNS
On Tuesday morning many of the citizens of our town noticed a great fire to the southeast and the news soon came by phone that the Centerdale elevator was on fire.
There being practically no protection against the firery element the building, with most of the contents, were entirely consumed.
Some clover seed, timothy seed, and oats were saved in a fairly good condition but the loss to Mr. Hartley, the owner, will fall very heavy. Insurance was held on grain and building, but in no proportion to the loss.
Centerdale seems to be unfortunate of late years, this being the second disastrous fire in about a year’s time. The depot was burned about one year ago, at which time it took strenuous endeavor to save the elevator. Mr. Hartley’s loss is estimated from $5,000 to $15,000.
