CHRISTIAN A. DIERKSEN

Christian A. Dierksen moved to Washington township in 1870, and began cultivating the prairie, and soon built a small house. In 1881 he sold his place and purchased two hundred and forty acres on section 3, where he now resides. He is a native of Germany, and was born in January, 1832. He attended school until sixteen years of age, when he began farming, and soon left his native land for America, coming directly to California, where he engaged in mining. In 1866 he returned to Germany to visit his friends, but soon came back to America and began farming in Johnson county, Iowa, where he remained until 1870. He then came to Cass county, and began to improve the land. He was married in 1870 to Dorathea C. Petersen, a native of Germany. She died in October, 1871, leaving one child, Agnes C., who died in August, 1872.
