JOHN D. CAMPBELL

John D. Campbell settled on section 1, of what is now Atlantic township in 1850, and lived there about two years. His cabin, built in 1852, was on the west side of the road not far from the brewery. The grove that environed his house seems to have had a strong fascination for the hunters in this part of the country that can be partly explained by the fact that Mr. Campbell had several captivating daughters. In 1853, Campbell moved into Pottawattamie county, and has passed out of the knowledge of the settlers of this part of the country entirely.
