     Templeton and Dedham are enterprising young villages that have sprung up on the line of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad, in the southern part of the county. Halbur is a station on the Iowa Southwestern Railroad, between Carroll and Manning. Charles Walterscheit has a general store and the postoffice; A. Hoelker has a general store, and John Barks a hardware store. Mount Carmel is a village in Kniest Township, having a Catholic church and a good store.
