Halbur is a station on the Iowa Southwestern Railroad, between Carroll and Manning. Charles Walterscheit has a general store and the postoffice; A. Hoelker has a general store, and John Barks a hardware store. Mount Carmel is a village in Kniest Township, having a Catholic church and a good store.
