Rev. John P. Hoffmann is a native of Luxemburg, Germany, born in the year 1855. He was reared in his native country until fifteen years of age, when, in 1871, he accompanied his parents to America. In January, 1878, he entered St. Francis College, near Milwaukee, where he remained two years. About one month after entering this institution his father died. After leaving St. Francis College he attended St. Lawrence College, Mount Calvary, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, for a period of three years. Father Hoffman being his theological studies at the Grand Seminary at Montreal, Canada, completing his course in June, 1886, and was ordained into the priesthood by Bishop John Hennessy, of Dubuque, Iowa. He is now in charge of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, of Pleasant Valley Township, he being the first resident priest of this church. The church edifice was erected in 1883, Rev. Theodore Wegmann attending to the spiritual wants of the congregation before Father Hoffman was appointed to this church.~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
