Martin, Ramsey - I am looking for information about a JOHN MARTIN born circa 1825/6 in Va (now WV), moved to Indiana and lived in Carroll County, Iowa in 1880. He and his daughter Clara (?) were living with his daughter Mollie (Mary) and her husband William J. Ramsey. Another report stated that John Lived in Carroll County, Iowa from 1884 to 1888. I believe that he moved to Oklahoma in 1888. Any information about John would be appreciated, i.e. did he remarry in Iowa? where did he live? etc. Thanks

John Martin Family lived in Glidden in 1873 When his wife Sarah died. Children: John F., Ellen, Peter, Andy, William A., Jesse?, George, and Jack. Any info on family or descendants very much appreciated.

Butler, Pelley - Looking for information on the Harry Oren BUTLER family b: Oct 1894 in Scranton, Kendrick tws, IA. Son of Benjamen Eugene BUTLER, b:June 5, 1865 in Maltee, DeKalb Co, IL, son of Seth Kellogg BUTLER b: May 15, 1820, Sardina, NY. Harry m: Marguerite (PELLEY) in Carroll co. IA March 22,1922. They had 4 children Harry O. BUTLER II, Mary Elizabeth(Betty)-BUTLER(Miller), Eugene BUTLER,& Kenneth BUTLER. Harry and his family lived in the Carroll and Denison area at the time of his death. De La Vergne, Dillivan - My family was De La Vergne came to Iowa in 1864. John De La Vergne is buried in the Coon Cemetery (Salisbury) His sister Catherine was married to Enos Butrick. When she died Enos married my ggrandmother John' De La Vergne's widow. Enos and Sarah had 2 children. My grandfather was Jerry Dillivan the name changed sometime in my grandfather's lifetime. We lived in Carroll county for year's (my father was Shelby Dillivan. My ggrandfather John W Morlan was a homesteader south of Lanesboro, He helped to start some Masonic lodges in area. Hoskinson, Sigler, Conner - There are way to many to mention exact names, But the earliest I can trace them to Carroll Co Iowa is in 1855 when George CONNER and his brother John entered a tract of land east
of Old Carrollton. They did not reside there until 1862. George CONNER married a Melissa SIGLER in 1851. Her parents were Rachel HOSKINSON and John SIGLER who both passed away in Carroll Co. 1884 and
1874 respectively. George and Melissa died in Carroll Co also 1900 and 1917. George and Melissa had 10 children and Rachel and John had 10 also. The family stays in Carroll Ia. The last I have listed with the family name CONNER is born in 1926 in Dedham, Carroll Ia. She is Patricia Chloe CONNER. I have many names related by marriage some are:KNIGHT, DAUGHTERS,HUBBARD, MATHENY, COOLEY, HUPP, MOWDER, GRACE, TUELL, SHARP and many more. I am willing to share any info. Thanks, Lorraine. Reimer - I am looking for information on REIMER, Christina, b. c. 1856, near Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstien, Ger. Came to Scott County, Iowa, in 1873. Maiden name, LUETJE. Married August REIMER in Davenport, IA, 15 Oct 1878. They moved to Manning, IA, 1888 and lived there the rest of their lives. Children: John, b 1879; Minnie, b. 26 Jan 1881; Laura Helene, b. 10 Jan 1887. August d. 24 Aug 1935 at Manning and is bur. in the Manning Cemetery. Looking for death date of Christina, possibly between 1938-1941. Minnie married John FRAHM in Manning; I have no further information. English - My ggggrandfather was John Wallace ENGLISH, b. Canada in 1824, m. Jane H. FRY, b. England abt 1828. Date of marriage June 19, 1845. They moved to Carroll, Carroll Co., Iowa for the second time in

Hoffman - Looking for any information about the John J. HOFFMANN family. The HOFFMANN family lived in Carroll, IA during the years 1889-?. John J. HOFFMANN married Ella CARSTENS from Denison, IA 1895-1898??? They had 4 children. Edwin J. b. 1898; Leo b. 1900; Anna b. 1904; Lambert b. 1906. They were all born in Carroll, Iowa. Hayden - I would like to find some info on my grandfather Fred HAYDEN, b. 1/25/1868 in Ohio. He moved to Carroll County and married Lottie Emma WILCOX, b. 2/4/1883. ROHNER PHOTOGRAPHY - I have a number of pictures taken in Carroll, Iowa, from approximately 1910 to 1952. They are in pressed-paper frames with the words "Rohner Photograpy" (or something similar) embossed on them. I realize that this photographer is no longer in business, but I was wondering if anyone knows if this photographer's plates and negatives still exist and, if so, where. Thanks in advance! English, Frye - Looking for John Wallace ENGLISH (my gggrandfather), b. Canada, m. Jane FRYE, b. England, moved from Canada to Wisconsin, to Carroll, Carroll Co., Iowa, year unknown. Children: Ernest Arthur, Ed (twins), b. March 21, 1862 in Wisconsin; Walter G. Henry, Frank, , Nellie, and Sallie. According to the family they resided in Carroll the better part of their lives. Taylor - Looking for Israel Galkell TAYLOR, birthdate unknown, probabaly born in Ohio, married in Marshalltown, Iowa 28 Sep 1865, to Lucinda Ann KIRK, probably born in Indiana. They were known to be living in Carroll, Iowa, at the time of the 1870 census. I need information about birthdates for both individuals, names of parents, and verification of place of birth. Drees - Looking for information about a Joseph DREES and a Frances Joseph DREES. Joseph, b. ca. 1865 in Carroll County to recently imigrated parents from Germany, I believe. Had a son, Frances Joseph DREES b. ca. 1889 also in Carroll County. Frances married Mildred LARCH ca. 1915, moved to Kansas City. That is where my dad, Frances Calvin DREES b. May 19, 1925, was born as their third child. Their first child was a daughter that died in early childhood. Their second was Donald DREES b. 1917. Sauvago - Looking for any information on the surname SAUVAGO. My grandmother, Hazel Harriet SAUVAGO, was supposedly born in Coon Rapids, Carroll County Feb 09, 1893. She had sisters Lillie Ruth and Mary. Hazel's parents were Louis "Jack" SAUVAGO (from OH) and Asenath Annie SMOUSE (from PA). Asenath was Jack's second wife. Children by his first wife were Itessa, Daisey, Merle, Pearl, Lawrence, Charlie F. and Mabel. Hall - Researching Philip Morrison HALL born in Carroll Co., Iowa in 1913. He married Doris Elizabeth GRAY from Clarinda, Iowa and had two children, Marcella and Marvin. Philip had worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. After a divorce he apparently moved to California and remarried. I am seeking any and all information I can on Philip HALL, including his ancestors and descendants. Please help. Cole - Trying to find info on Malvina Penelope COLE. She was born June 23, 1842 in Mason, Mich. She was marr. to Erastus Mortimer ROBERTS in Manchester, Iowa. He was born in 1844, Iowa. Malvina died April 19, 1934 in Manning, Carroll, Iowa and is buried in Dow City, Crawford, Iowa. Erastus ROBERTS died in 1915 in Arion, Crawford, Iowa. Basom - BASOM: I am looking for relations of my grandmother, Blanche Fern BASOM (b. ?, Carroll Co., IA 30 Mar 1890; d. Portland, Multnomah Co., OR 20 Feb 1956), d/o Fremont Tyler and Lucinda Cretsinger BASOM. Married (1) George P. McGOWAN c1913 (divorced c1920-1925) and (2) Loyal Burdette HOPKINS c1925. Wiese - Albert Julius WIESE; born 17 Jul 1864 in Germany; emigrated under an (unknown) assumed name, but used his own name thereafter; came to Carroll county to a cousin's in 1881, moved to Holland, Pipestone, MN in 1887, where he m (1) Katherine SIERKS in 1888, and (2) Anna REIMERS 05 May 1895. Had brothers and sisters who came to Minnesota: Matilda, Carl, Herman, Rudolph and Edward. Also had these who stayed in Germany: Otto, Fred and Theresa. May have been others. I have been unable to find his naturalization record, although he did have one. Can anyone check records there? Sharp - John Fletcher SHARP (1825-1906) was born Huntingdon Furnace, PA and died in Yetter, Sac County, IA at the home of a son. He was a United Brethren minister in Carroll County for some time prior to his death. He first married Susanna REAM and had 5 children. She died before the family left PA. Endicott - Joseph Samuel ENDICOTT was born October 29, 1846 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He married Mary Elizabeth WELCH in about 1868 in Mercer County, Illinois. They had children Stella, Ida or Iris, Edward, Rose, Lillian and Clair. Mary Elizabeth died January 21, 1880 and is buried in Mercer County. Joseph and children relocated to Carroll County, Iowa, where he married Harriett (Unknown) and had another child Joseph Samuel ENDICOTT, Jr. born about 1893. Stella married Clarence HOUGHTON in Carroll County and they are both buried in the Coon Rapids Cemetery, Iris married Jerry KENDRICK, Rose died at age 13 and is buried in Coon Rapids Cemetery. Clair died in Mercer County and is buried there. Seeking descendants of this family for exchange of information on the Welch family. Higgins - This is an update on my previous inquiry. My GGgrand father Levi HIGGINS and his wife Jemima BORDERS Higgins are listed on the1860 Carroll Co. Census. with several of their children. On the 1870-1880 census he is listed as having a wife Nancy. We now know she was Jemima's sister Nancy (RITTENHOUSE HIGGINS BAILEY) We have found Nancy as well as her son James RITTENHOUSE. They died and are buried in Torrington, Wy. We still are attempting to find where Levi HIGGINS and his first wife Jemima BORDERS Higgins and any children are buried as well as determining which of Levi's children were born to Jemima and which were born to Nancy. There still may be HIGGINS decendants in Carroll Co as we believe Levi fathered about 15 Children and we can only find a few who moved on to Custer Co. NE between 1880 and 1890. Egermayer-Valandry - I am seeking information regarding the parents of my great grandmother, Anastasia (KITZBERGER) VALANDRY. Anastasia was born in 1875 (place unknown) and died on Feb. 9th, 1921 in Bennett County, SD. She married my great grandfather Vetal VALANDRY on Oct. 7th, 1893 near Hay Springs, NE. I know she had two brothers, Frank and Anton. She also had two half sisters, Annie and Kate. Although I don't know her fathers first name, I believe he ran a freight line in Nebraska. The only information I have from her mothers side is that Anastasia had an uncle named Charles H. EGERMAYER of Carroll, IA. I have a letter from Charles to Anastasia dated 28 Apr 1902 informing her that her grandmother, Marketa EGERMAYER, had passed away. The letter head on the letter promotes the Egermayer's Orchestra (Music furnished for all occasions) of which Charles was the leader. Higgins - My ancester Levi HIGGINS is listed on the 1860-1870-1880 census as a resident of Jasper township. We know he was married twice, 1st wife Jemima and several children on 1860 census and wife Nancy (BORDERS, RITTENHOUSE, HIGGINS) on the 1870-1880 census. 1870 census lists my g-grandfather Benjamin. I would appreciate any help as I believe Levi and some of his children are buried in Carroll County. Nancy and Ben and Mattew,and James RITTENHOUSE are listed as residents of Neb in 1890. I would also like to know how many of the listed children were Jemima's and how many were Nancy's, also if Nancy was buried back in Carroll County. White-Harrington - I have a Cecilia WHITE of Carroll, Iowa who married a John Patrick HARRINGTON in Carroll in 1880. They then moved on, first to Sanborn in O'Brien County, then to Kansas, Oklahoma, and then Texas. They had six children, but only three survived, Cecilia, John, and Irene. The parents died in Canadian, Texas. Of the children, Cecilia (2nd) married a SHOEMAKER/SHEWMAKER/SHUMAKER and they had children and were living in Texas in 1929. John had children and was living in Lincoln, Neb in 1929. Irene married a Gus ALLEN and was living in Texas in 1929. Have been unable to locate any of these children. I am backtracking and trying to find if the original Cecelia WHITE of Carroll, Iowa has relatives still living in area. KENNEDY, TIMMONS, MURRANE - Looking for information on John Kennedy. Born May 16, 1852. Died May 15, 1895. Buried in Greene County, Willow Township Cemetery. Married to Emma L Timmons Kennedy. KANE, FARMER - I am searching for any information on my father's father, Herbert James KANE. My father, Herbert Russell Kane, was born in Carroll, Iowa on 12/24/1920. His mother's name was Cora (FARMER) Kane. His birth certificate lists his father's name as Herbert James KANE. At that time, he was 36 years old, occupation salesman, born in Michigan. His mother was 41 years old, born in Iowa. (Her family was all from Iowa). My father was told that when he was 3 years old, his father "disappeared". We have later learned that he and his mother divorced. Cora Kane and Herbert James Kane had three children, Paul James (or possibly James Paul - age around 17 at the time of my father's birth), his sister Genivieve, and my father Herbert Russell Kane. Cora Kane moved the family to Wetumka, Oklahoma after Herbert James Kane "disappeared", where her brother William "Charlie" Farmer was an attorney/banker. At some point after this, they moved to Ada, Oklahoma, where my father was raised. We would like any information on Herbert James KANE (what really happened to him), and would like to communicate with any of his family. We have run into a dead-end. Meierotto, Kelly - Looking for my husband's grandmother, Anna MEIEROTTO, who was born in Carroll, IA 1-1-1865. She married Bernard C. Kelly (we think in Carroll, IA) and had eight children that lived past infancy: Bernard b. 1880, Mary, Casper b. 1898, Paul b. 1900, Frances, John b. 1905, Nina b. 1874 and Pauline b. 1-1-1865. We know nothing about her husband Bernard, except that he was a doctor and they were divorced (we know not when). Anna wound up in Tulsa, OK in her old age and died there. HousemanI am looking for any information about my grandfather's family. My grandfather's name was Walter Guy HOUSEMAN. He was born in Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa, on August 10, 1904. His father's name was Walter Howe HOUSEMAN and his mother's name was Inez (I do not know Inez's madien name). My grandfather was called "Guy". He married Electie Lucinda Higgins in about 1889, they had several children including my grandmother, Mary Ida McCauley Pritchard. Reportedly this was his second marriage. I found a Daniel C. Hastings - Rev. Royal HASTINGS was b. 1810 and died 19 Jan 1874 in Carroll Co., IA. Abt. 1839 he married Caroline??? (possibly BROWN). They may have married in the Wayne Co., IN area, where Royal's father, Rev. William Hastings lived briefly. Before moving to Carroll Co. IA, this family lived in Hamilton Co., OH and Licking Co., OH. Murphy - I am searching for information on Jeremiah and Sarah MURPHY. I believe they moved to Coon Rapids,IA in 1885. Jerry or J.E. MURPHY worked on the railroad. Mary Rebecca "Mayme" and Frances Ellen "Daisy" were their daughters. According to Sarah's mother's obituary from the 1897 Delavan,Ill. newspaper, they were in Coon Rapids in 1897. Timpe, Riedel - I am searching for information about my great-grandfather, Louis Riedel, who came to the US from Germany in the early 1860's. Louis lived in Wheatland, Iowa, in 1880 because that is where & when my grandfather, George Riedel, was born; however, family history states that Louis lived in Glidden, & Lanesboro, Iowa. Louis died ca 1885. Louis married Katrina Maria Sherer (Scherer, Scherrer) daughter of Jacob Sherer & Margarethe Timpe Sherer. Margarethe Timpe was the daughter of Johann Wilhelm (William or Henry) Timpe & Anna Dorthea Timpe. Anna Dorthea Timpe died at the home of her son, Jacob Timpe in Lidderdale, Carroll County, Iowa 12 June 1882.
