Sarah Seaman Gould Obituary from ADVOCATE, Rockwell City, Calhoun Co., IA, The funeral of Mrs. Sarah J. Gould was held at the M. E. church Saturday morning Rev. Lambly conducting it and the body was taken to Manson for burial. The pall bearers were D. E. Noel, J. T. McComb, Byron Mattison and P. C. Torrance. Messrs. and Mesdames E. C. Stevenson and B. E. Sebern and Mrs. W. S. DuBois also accompanied the remains to Manson. Sarah J. Seaman was born in Utica, N. Y., September 29, 1841. She moved with her parents to Illinois in 1871 and came to Manson, Iowa, in 1874. She was married to William Gould, a pioneer farmer of Calhoun county, in 1875. Mr. Gould died in 1878 and a short time after his death Mrs. Gould made her home with her sister, Mrs. Geo. R. Allison, with whom she has since resided. Mrs. Gould became a member of the M. E. church when quite young and was steadfast in the faith until the end. She died Thursday March 8, 1900, at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 9 days. Mrs. Gould had a great many warm friends in Rockwell City. She was a woman whose cheerful character attracted all and her life was full of good works. She was a skillful nurse and her tender and watchful care at many a sick bed endeared her to scores of people. She whose ministrations many times helped to bring back others from the very entrance of "the valley of the shadow," was herself called to make the dark journey before them. But in death as in life her faith was triumphant and to her it was but a slumber from which she awakened in glory land. Submitted By:Marilynn & Charles Howard |
