Mrs. S. B. Wheeler is quite sick.

Mrs. F. J. Smith is confined to her home by sickness.

Misses Fannie and Gene Beacham were in Gowrie Saturday.

O. L. Hedlund, of Gowrie, spent Sunday here with friends.

Geo. Coats is beautifying his residence with a coat of paint.

Mr. Chas Beacham transacted business at Rockwell City Friday.

Messrs. C. W. and Theodore Carlson were Gowrie callers Saturday.

Miss Florence Black, of Gowrie, visited Miss Grace Wiles last week.

Mrs. F. M. Cammack and Miss Grace Wiles were in Jefferson Saturday.

Miss Daisy Babcock, of Rockwell City, visited her parents Wednesday.

Chas. Coats, and John Washburn, of Lake City, were in town Saturday.

Mr. Manly Rushton, of White Lake, S. D., is a guest of relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Coats, of Moorland, visited Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Coats Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Patten, of Lohrville were in town Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Ostertag, of Rockwell City, was the guest of Miss Verna Nelson Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Cheney, of California, are here looking after the Libby estate.

Misses Della and Hattie Brown, of Lohrville, visited Miss Lila Fosgate Saturday.

Mr. Mitchell has rented the New England House and will take possession November 1.

Mrs. Laura Coats of Winterset, Iowa, is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Coats.

Misses Isabelle and Ida Madison, of Lake City are the guests of their sister Mrs. J. R. McCrary.

The Epworth League will give a social in Hough’s hall Saturday evening, November 4. Everyone invited. J. E. Babcock had a public sale on his farm south of town Wednesday. He expects to move to town in the spring.

Miss Lena Wheeler has returned home from Nebraska where she has spent the summer with her brother H. L. Wheeler.

Married, at Rockwell City, October 18, 1899, Mrs. Agnes Wilson and Mr. Ezra Rushton. We extend congratulations.

Mr. C. O. Hubert has moved into the rooms vacated by J. W. Hough and W. Craigmile has moved into Mr. Humbert’s property.

Mr. Geo Schmidt and family have returned from South Dakota where they have spent the summer. They will move into their property in Beacham addition.

Messrs. J. R. McCrary, H. A. Swanson, J. C. Crissinger, H. L. Fowler, D. M. Erritt, W. F. Washburn, J. A. Graimile, S. J. Farlow attended K. of P. lodge at Callender last Thursday night.

Mr. J. T. Bentley, of Rockwell City, delivered his lecture on Oddfellowship to a full house on Saturday night. Mr. Bentley is an able speaker and his lecture was highly spoken of by all present.

Election Precincts and Judges
One week form next Tuesday is general election day. The voting precincts in the city will be as follows:
First Ward – Building west of Danforth’s store. Clerks: G. C. Smith, A. Strong, Judges: F. D. Williams, Thos. Cloud, Paul Ralston.
Second Ward – G. C. Smith’s office. Clerks: J. M. Toliver, J. L. Hibbs. Judges: O. J. Soper, H. H. Harshbarger, A. A. Trullinger.
Third Ward – Horigan’s shoe shop. Clerks: W. C. Snyder, L. F. Danforth. Judges: G. B. McCrary, H. T. Anderson, V. W. Cook.
Fourth Ward. – Basement Hotel Columbia. Clerks: M. E. Hutchison, J. B. Smith. Judges: W. A. Townsend, A. G. Miller, R. G. Pinney.

The plastering work in the new Townsend block will all be completed this week, if nothing unforeseen occurs. The floors are now being laid, the painting is well along and the greater part of the glass is set. Every room in the building is rented and the tenants will soon begin to move in, though several weeks will elapse before all the rooms will be ready for occupancy. The third story will be ready for the use of the I. O. O. F. societies as soon as the stairways are in place and completed. The banking room is nearly completed. Messrs. Townsend & Son will move in to the new quarters at the earliest possible moment in order to give the contractor who is to rebuild the old bank building a chance to get at the work. The plumbers will be here soon to complete the water system in the building, and Wallace & McNamara, of Des Moines, who have the contract for installing the steam heating plant, are expected here at once to do their work.

The Daily Iowa Capital has sent one of its editorial writers, Mr. John Briar, to San Francisco, to report everything pertaining to the arrival of the Fifty-first Iowa, and Mr. Briar is doing excellent work. No other daily newspaper in Iowa has sent a special man to San Francisco.
