Taken from the "Souvenir of Manson and Vicinity" "City Government" Manson was incorporated in 1877. Its first officials were Henry Willey, mayor; Geo. R. Allison, recorder; Henry Young, James Glover, James Turtlott, Wm. Clark and Jeremiah Hollahan, trustees and John B. Smith, marshal. The present town officals are: Mayor, Geo. I. Long; clerk, W.C. Moody; marshal, H.J. Richmond; councilmen, M.W. Fitz, James Braginton, A. J. Maher, M. J. Foley, D. R. Clark and G.B. Moon. These gentlemen are all active business men and are very much in earnest in their efforts to build up the town. In this they have the hearty co-operation of the citizens who all take an active interest in the town's welfare. This article taken from the same book. (This W.C. Moody is the father of W.C. Moody who died in 1918 See obituary in the Obituary section) W.C. Moody is a justice of the peace and notary public. He is a successful collector and has a great deal of this business to attend to. He also writes insurance and will sell your farm for you. His place of business is next door the Marsh barbershop on Main Street where he may be found during business hours. He is also city clerk having recently been appointed to this position by the city council. Mr. Moody has been in business for years and in all things is considered careful and reliable and any business entrusted to him will receive prompt attention. Submitted by Bethany Frerichs |
