Lewis Lawton Lake City Graphic OBITUARY Lewis Lawton was born at McDonough, N. Y., June 26, 1823. He was married to Miss Nancy Gates at McDonough August 29, 1847, and soon after moved by team to Sycamore, DeKalb Co, Ill., whence, in the fall of 1887, with his family, he moved to Lake City where his wife died Jan. 7, 1893. Mr. Lawton was a member of the Free Will Baptist church. He was in very poor health the year past and in a critical condition during the last two months. Death was expected when it came Oct. 20, 1901. The services were held at the home at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. L. A. McCaffree of the M. E. church. The remains were taken east to DeKalb, Ill. for burial. |
