Hilda Smith Haselton Mrs. Hilda Smith Haselton, 88 of Carroll, died Friday, August 3, 1984 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6 at Dahm and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. The Rev. Gehrald Riesen, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Glidden officiated. Private family graveside rites were held at the glidden Westlawn cemetery. Mrs. Hilda Smith Haselton was born July 25, 1896 in Lake City. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1914 and taught in Glidden for 14 years. She was the daughter of J. O. Smith, a Lake City merchant and the last remaining granddaughter of Peter Smith, the founder of Lake City and the man who gave the ground for Central School in early 1880. She had resided at the Carroll Health Center her last years. She leaves four children; David B. of Souix Falls, South Dakota, Marian Haselton Junker of Marshalltown, James c. Haselton of Mankato, Minnesota and Bruce E. Haselton of Tustin, California, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. |
