Dick Bunting Lake City Graphic DEATH OF A PIONEER BUNTING- In Lake City, Io., Thursday June 13, 1901, Richard Bunting, aged 84 years, 3 months and 15 days. Richard Bunting was born February 28, 1817, at Pamelia, New York. He removed to Lucas county, Ohio, where he was married to Lois C. Gill October 19, 1843. Later he removed to Cass county, Michigan, and came to Calhoun county, Iowa, May 5, 1855, and resided on his farm south-west of Lake City until May 5, 1891, when he removed to Lake City which was his home to the time of his death. There were two children who shared the comforts of the home until they established homes of their own. He leaves two brothers and one sister, Eli, in Ohio, William, south of town and Julia A. Cutting, of Springfield, Ohio. His wife passed away thirteen years ago, since which time Mrs. Melissa Noble, a niece, has had the care of the family. At his death there were present three generations of nieces. The funeral services took place at Woodlawn church on Sunday after noon, June 16, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett of the Christian Church, and the burial took place at Cottonwood cemetery. The music was rendered by Messrs. Arney, Humphreys, Hawkins and Reynolds, Miss Edna Townsend, organist. The bearers were Messrs. L. D. Aton, R. F Lintleman, Joseph Cretzler, N. Bilney, Samuel Elliott and N. M. Ripley. Uncle Dick Bunting will be remembered as an honest man, a kind neighbor and friend, a diamond in the rough. His passing removes one of the oldest citizens of Calhoun county. Card of Thanks |
