Funeral Services Today for Mrs. Bertha Bahls, 75

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Bahls, 75, will be held at 2:15 p.m. today (Thursday) at Immanuel Lutheran church east of Rockwell City.

Mrs. Bahls died about noon Tuesday in Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, where she was being cared for following a paralytic stroke she suffered about five weeks ago. Officiating minister will be the Rev. W. C. H. Schaefer. Burial, in charge of the Morton funeral home, will be in Rosehill cemetery.

Mrs. Bahls was born near Lindenwood, Ogle county, Ill., Oct. 20, 1875 and at the age of seven came with her parents to Calhoun county. For a number of years the family lived near Knierim, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. Her parents then moved to the first farm west of Immanuel church and it was there on Feb. 8, 1894 she was united in marriage with William Bahls. She lived her entire married life in that immmediate vicinity.

Mrs. Bahls was the mother of 11 children, four of whom preceded her in death, as did her husband in 1917.

She is survived by five sons, August of Richards, Emil, Elmer, and Harry, all of Rockwell City, and Walter of Granda, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Volk of Rockwell City and Mrs. Walter Pohl of Manson; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Strutzenberg of Knierim, Mrs. Anna Wendland of Richards and Mrs. Fred Consier of Clare; two brothers, Fred and Albert Ramthun of Rockwell City; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
