high explosive shell on November 3, taken to a field hospital, then to
Evacuation Hospital No. 15, where he had first operation; to Base
Hospital No. 53 for 18 days; to Base Hospital No. 10 at Kerhornou, near
Brest. Sailed from Brest as stretcher case on U. S. S. Agamemnon,
December 27; arrived at Debarkation Hospital No 5, New York City,
January 5, 1919. Remained at Debarkation Hospital No. 5 about four weeks
till recuperation was sufficient to allow him to walk on crutches; to
the general hospital at Des Moines, and after six weeks in this hospital
he was given a furlough and upon his return waited about a month for his
discharge. Mustered out May 23, 1919. |
