November 23, 1925 ---- July 27, 2019

Margaret A. Anderson, 93, of Garner, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Concord Care Center in Garner. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Our Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother left us on Saturday, July 27, 2019 to be with her Beloved husband Ralph, daughter, Margo Rae and son, Mark Ralph.

Mom was born at Holmes, Iowa on November 23, 1925 to Ralph and Nora (Olson) Peterson. Mom attended a country school north of Goldfield, Iowa, and finished at the 8th grade Holmes School. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1942 and then attended Iowa State Teachers’ College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She taught kindergarten in Britt and in 1947, married Ralph H. Anderson from Woden when he returned from WWII after serving as a pilot in the first Army Air Corps. They were married at the Goldfield Methodist Church where she was a member. They farmed northwest of Britt before moving to Garner.

Ralph was the first golf superintendent at the Britt Golf Course and then the Garner Golf Course. They were members of Britt and later, Garner Methodist Church.

Dad left us November 12, 1992.

Mom was always active in our school activities, her church and community. She was a member of PEO chapters in Britt and Garner. She worked in the community with UMW, as a 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed her bridge and golf.

She moved to Prairie View in 2010 to spend her Sunset years with a beautiful westerly sunset each evening. Mom was an avid letter writer and when we retired our letter writing continued after living in Germany for 32 years. She had a small stroke in 2017 and moved to Concord where she continued to enjoy our letters, her newspapers and the news about her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Anderson Knudsen and her husband, Gene, of Dakota Dunes, SD; grandson, Kyle Knudsen and his wife, Tia, and their two children, Kennedy Marie and Leo Robert; grandson, Sean Knudsen of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Susan Anderson Maney Koerner of Seattle, WA; three nephews; and her cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph; two children, Mark and Margo; her parents; brother, Duane Peterson and his wife, Dorothy; parents-in-law, Joe and Hilda Anderson; three nieces; a nephew; aunts; uncles; three brothers-in-law; and one very special sister-in-law, Lucille Guernsey.

Mom had many treasured memories of her years at Britt and in Garner as she always loved making a house a home. We were all blessed to have her in our lives.
