Ann Blank, age 100 years and one month old, of Kanawha, Iowa, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on February 26, 2017, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt, Iowa. Visitation for Ann will be Thursday March 2, from 5-7 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Homes-Belmond. Funeral service will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. and Wright Christian Reformed Church, rural Kanawha, Iowa.

Ann was born January 26, 1917, near Kanawha, daughter of Albert and Jenny (Eekoff) Vander Ploeg. Ann grew up in the Wright Christian Reformed Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She attended Kanawha Schools and graduated in the Class of 1934. She then attended Central College of Pella, IA, where she studied nursing. Ann was united in marriage to Raymond Blank, September 4, 1945, on her parents' farm. They had two children, Bernard and Janine.

Throughout her entire life journey, Ann was devoted to her family and her faith. She enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting and crocheting. She had many afghans and sweaters for her family and others. Ann was a consummate, nurturing, and loving caregiver to many in her family. She was a meticulous house keeper and enjoyed times spent working crosswords and word search puzzles. In the past couple years she enjoyed the modern technologies of an I-pad, visits from her family and friends and activities in the Kanawha Community Home. She was a reserved lady who was very proper and self-maintained always caring about her physical appearance and her dignified and well thought out respect and care for others. She was a gentle beautiful lady throughout her entire being.

She is survived by her children: Bernard (Shirley) Blank, Kanawha, IA; Janine Harms of Everett, WA; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, a granddaughter Carey, 8 sisters-in-law, 6 brothers-in law.
