October 13, 1906 --- April 29, 1989

Tillie Nieman, 82, passed away Saturday, April 29, 1989, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City. Services were held Tuesday, May 2, at 1:30 p. m. at United Methodist Church, Britt, with Rev. J. Larry Vallery. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

Tillie, daughter of Freerk and Elizabeth Gatena Freerksen, was born October 13, 1906, at Kanawha. She received her education in the rural Kanawha schools and was employed for a time in a grocery store in Kanawha. On Dec. 20, 1927, she was united in marriage with Casper Albert Nieman in Kanawha. The couple farmed near Kanawha until 1949 when they moved to a farm north of Crystal Lake, where they farmed until 1968 when they moved to Britt. Tillie was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Britt, United Methodist Women and Kings Daughters. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Casper, who passed away Sept. 10, 1985, and one grandchild. Survivors include her family; four sisters, Martha Kraft of Kanawha, Marie Shelton of Britt, Minnie May of Des Moines, Clara Amsbaugh of Floyd, and a brother, George Freerksen of Grand Junction.
